I found myself looking at our football teams Win-Loss record from last season today. 2012 Tennessee Volunteers football team - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

5-7. I watched every game in its entirety like everyone else, and we all know that record didn't prove what our talent level was. Close losses to Georgia, Miss st, USC, and MIZZOU all due to our new defensive scheme. If we had retained Wilcox we probably would've went, at the least, 8-4 IMO maybe even 10-2 with loses to Bama and Florida.

I know after 3 losing seasons with CDD we had to can him and that is understandable. However, I do think alot of coaches are only as good as their coordinators are. ex. (CPF). So my question is: Do you think we will be better off in three years with our current staff? Is coach Butch Jones an 'X's and O's' guy? Or is he more of mediator? And where do you think we'd be if we kept Wilcox? I know what's past is past, but I mean what else are we supposed to talk about in the off-season. lol.

Anyways, I hope CBJ is the guy! GBO! RISETOTHETOP!

Luckily for us i think Jones' is an x's and o's guy, plus he has stated that he will let his assistants do their jobs.

I hope he is an X's and O's guy. I don't want us to start doing well. Lose a coordinator then have to start all over again. IMO to get a team to win there has to be consistency and that starts with the head coach. Good news is that he brought his entire staff from Cincy.

Wilcox would have made a pretty big difference. I don't personally think UF would have been a loss. Can't really say how many total wins UT would have had but even a mediocre D moves that one into the W column.

I believe Wilcox would have made a Big difference. We wasted a great Offense last year with a pathetic Defense. Perhaps we should have offered Wilcox the HC job the year he left and tossed Dooley then. I had no idea what was happening on the recruiting trail with Dooley. In fact, we'd probably have been in better shape with Bell and others this year had Wilcox stayed.

i think we would have finished 7-5 under wilcox. Sal was really really a problem for our program.

We win over UF, UGA, Miss St, and Mizzou

With that said, I'll take CBJ and an unknown future vs. Wilcox +Dooley and a known average football team.

I want everything Dooley was associated with gone. The only thing that should remain is the VFL program.

Still lost to Kentucky with him here. Let's face it, teams under Dooley found ways to lose.

:good!: But I do think it wouldnt have been as bad as it was...would have bought him more time perhaps. That graphic is the best, though:)
