ya the 5th bcs game is the national championship game, so u have the rose bowl, sugar, orange, n fiesta, then the national championship game

And I need to add this, because I was confused about it for a long time.

It is NOT a plus 1 game. It's still the same, crappy, chaos-inducing situation. The #1 and #2 post-conference championship teams play in the BCS title game, and the other 4 bowls have hand picked teams. Here is an example:

#1 Auburn v. #2 USC - BCS Title Game
Texas (B12 champ) v. Virginia Tech (ACC Champ) - Sugar
Ohio State (B10 Champ) v. Oregon (At Large) - Rose
Notre Dame (At Large) v. Louisville (BigEast Champ) - Orange
Boise State (At Large) v. Tennessee (At Large) - Fiesta

You get the idea.

And mid-major conference teams get an even better deal.

I think its a fair agreement between ND and the NCAA. No problem from me.

I'm having brain lock. Who are the other notable independents?

Are you sure, then why does it list ND specifically in the rule that states they get a BCS bid if they are in the top 8 of the final BCS poll?

Look at the other indies, they know thye have no chance so they didn't wanna beat around the bush with why the rule was actually in place.

Yes, I guess they did lay it out there didn't they. The process of determining the NCAA football champ is so ridiculous.

 My head was spinning the first time I read those. I had to reread it a time or two before I got it...

All in all, I think the rules are fair. Except I think Notre Dame ought to be ranked 5th or 6th to get an auto BCS bid.

Also a nice touch on the mid-major rule.

The current independents are Notre Dame, Army, Navy, and Temple. However, next season, Temple will be in the MAC.

FIU and FAU are in the Sun Belt.

Cmon guys, there is football outside of the SEC! :)

Mmmm, let me see.

Hate 'em, don't care, don't care, and...don't care.

You see why I didn't know who the last three were?

The mid major rule is stupid.

So 12th rank TCU could be more deserving of a bcs game than a 5th ranked team?

Possibly.

One thing for sure is that 12th ranked TCU going to a BCS bowl is less stressful than a lawsuit.
