Noone is going to like me for this, but here is what I see. For a long time the vols had success. David Cutcliff got hired away and the team was thrown in disrepair. That was the beginning of a long downhill slide. Cutcliff came back and things started to level off. However the damage to Fulmer's tenure was done. There isn't a vol fan alive who doesn't know the rest of the story... Though, many vol fans won't fess up to being wrong about their reaction to Cutcliffs momentary hiring as head coach. I kept hearing doesn't win pretty. That's right it is the fans! Cutcliff earned his chance and was denied it by a butt load of winey babies. I just wonder what cut would have done with tyler? For the second year in a row we aren't going bowling and it isn't because of sanctions!

Huh?

Cutcliffe turned the job down over staff issues, it had nothing to do with a "butt load of winey babies".

Lets not forget that part of Cutcliffs baggage was Randy Sanders - who coached one good game in his entire life.

The media said that was the reason but I never bought it. It was an ACTUAL release that he had been hired and then everything changed. Buy that if you want... an institution is not going to tell it's fans to grow the hell up!

Cutcliffe did not resurrect the team. He did the offense. And we had good defenses those years to help us win. Exact opposite of this past season. Great offense, horrible d.

The real problem is Cutcliff's Ole miss team losing the egg bowl to Miss State in 2001. If cutcliff had won that game UT would have played Miami in the Rose Bowl.
