I haven't invested any time in trying to check into this. I've seen some references to Palin having supported it for awhile and then changing gears for campaign purposes. Saw some video of her saying in gubernatorial debate that she supported it and comments that she supported it and wanted to press for it while the Alaskan delegation had the power to get it through.

Haven't seen much in response on that. Anyone know what the deal is? I really don't know anything and am asking if someone has the correct 411.

I think that she did support it at one time, then changed her stance. Ultimately, the Alaskan government took the federal money and spent it on something else...

That's pretty much the way I understand it as well.

She supported the idea. Congress appropriated funds but those funds were eventually de-linked from the bridge project. IIRC, there were actually 2 bridges and Teddy-boy plus the former government might have been pushing for more. When she got in she put the nail in the coffin and gave US Congress the cover not to pursue further earmarks for it. Since the money had already been sent to Alaska for transportation projects, it was not returned.

IIRC she supported it but also argued that the plan was to grandiose and that some of the $ could be better used on other Alaskan transportation issues.

they offered her a bridge to no where, but she declined. she recommended that they give the money and resources to knoxville. she is hoping that I40 east and west will be completed before 2056

There is probably an earmark in DC to connect it to that road to nowhere in NC.

I can tell you that 'A Bridge too Far' is a cool story about some of our early, bungled paratrooper operations and 'Bridge on the River Kwai' was so popular that Billy Joel included it in his little history tour song "We Didn't Start the Fire."

well i hoping..
dude, I think most around here have begun to overlook all the typos and broken English, but this was a freaking 3 word sentence. I'm thinking you could have put forth the effort to get it right.

Am I asking too much (honestly, if you were a hardcore dem, I wouldn't care)?

My only thoughts on "the bridge to nowhere" is that I'm going to put a fork through my eye if I hear her give that same damn speech about it one more time.

Ok, guys, thanks ... I guess.

She supported it, then, when the money came, she put it to use otherwise. She changed her stance. There is no bridge to the island. No mode of transportation, besides boat, to or from the island, as I understand it.

'The Bridge at Remagen" is a pretty good movie and 'Force 10 From Navarrone" isn't about a bridge, it's about a dam that gets blown up in order to destroy a bridge.

Obama and Biden both voted in favor of funding the Alaskan Bridge to Nowhere.
