Some of this I can understand. Such as, you don't want coordinated celebrations involving multiple players, you don't want the scoring team getting in the face of the other team and such. But all of this crap about taking away points for something as harmless as high stepping is a bunch of feminine garbage. Gimme a break. Let the players show some friggin' personality.

In the same age where Nascar is slacking up on penalizing drivers for pretty much everything short of cheating and encouraging them to show their personality, you have one of the most physical, masculine sports in the world policing the sport like some kind of sorority dance off contest.

Pisses me off something royal. You are taking something away from the game we all love with this crap. I mean, who does it hurt??? Seriously? Are we forreally trying to keep teams that friggin' LET the other team score, I mean, they LOST the battle, get all butt-hurt over a guy spiking the ball or doing a 10 second celebratory dance in the endzone? If it bothers the opposing team so much, why don't they get their own happy asses into the endzone so their team can do a little celebrating of their own?

Taking away points for taunting is heading down the path of absurdity. Next they will be penalizing players for smiling.

When I first read this thread title, I thought it was in reference to the rules concerning posting on this board.

It is an absolutely absurd rule change, because for the most part it will be a judgment call by the refs to determine if something was taunting or not. Remember the Georgia game last year that was decided by the refs over "taunting?"

Might as well just take away the pads and helmets, give the players some flags..... BS ruls changes. The NCAA is dropping the ball on everything here lately.

I think coaches should be fined if their teams win by more than 21 points.

I think everyone involved with the NCAA should do us all a favor and just commit seppuku. I'm sure Jerry Tarkanian would volunteer to serve as the second for every one of them.

To this day I still do not think the NCAA has addressed a major lopphole that exists for a penalty in the situation that happened during fb game at UK three years ago.

Remember, Big Dan Williams blocks game winning field goal attempt by UK in 2 OT. UT picks ball up and laterals to Eric Berry. Berry is heading for a score to win the game for UT.

A UK player tackles Berry by the face mask in one of the worst face masks I can ever recall.

No penalty called, or if it was, it wasn't enforced.

Anyone remember why it wasn't called? And if this has ever been addressed by NCAA?

I'm gonna tell you the truth behind all of the hoopla. Many will say that it is crazy, racist, and/or ridiculous. Many will say that what I'm saying is absolute bull. But the whole reason that they are coming down on tauting and celebration is because it doesn't sit well with most white males. To me, it is just a game. Plus, the kids in college aren't getting paid anyways, so why not have a little fun and celebrate. So what... big deal. If they celebration lasts too long, there is always a play clock and they will always have the chance of picking up a delay of game penalty. The rules already on the books should handle that. But the people that actually have the money behind the sport do not want to see showboating and a little ribbing/poking of fun anywhere.

Like I said, it's just a game. That's just my opinion though. It's not like we can point to the ills of society and blame taunting for any of it. The kids are just having fun. Some people take this stuff waaaayyy to seriously, though.

I don't think it has anything to do with anyone's skin color, and everything to do with the way any governing body works: they always want more power and complete control.

That would have a lot more validity if I didn't constantly hear some of the so called fans complaining about endzone celebrations. If it was just the NCAA trying to flex it's muscle, you would have a lot more outrage than you have right now. But you seem to have a significant enough people that are not too bent out of shape about the direction the NCAA is going and actually support their actions...

Like I said, I didn't expect my opinion to be the popular opinion or anything.
