A loss at home to Duke WITHOUT Alana Beard??

A come-from-behind-win over DePaul?

I thought this season was supposed to be "Katie, bar the door".

Is Candace Parker EVER gonna play??

The team just can't shoot the ball.

Only persdon who seems to improved her game has been Britany Jackson, Ely and Zolman are having trouble shooting the ball, Spencer is decent out there, and now with Loree Moore out for a few weeks it's on some freshmen to step up right now.

Haven't heard anything on Parker, but they havent redshirted her yet, so here's hoping that next month she'll be ready to go.

We've started off slow, but I'm gonna wait til we get into the SEC schedule to start judging this team.

They are struggling early this year, that is for sure. They will come along though. We have Pat Summitt and the girls are talented. They wouldn't be on the team if they weren't. I didn't get to see the DePaul game, but I heard that the freshman center looked good. And yes, the girls need to shoot the ball better. During that Duke game, I couldn't believe how many shots were missed.

Pat installed a new offense this year that was supposed to get isolation on the new talent on the team, well since the bulk of the new talent is injured the offense has suffered. She also moved Ely to the 3 spot instead of the 4 and this required Ely to play on the perimeter more.....this doesn't appear to be working. Plus add those things to just plain old poor shooting and the Lady Vols look......beatable. But in Pat's defense it takes time to learn a new offense, especially with a heavy load of freshman. The post, especially at center is weak, Fluker has not played well and we are relying on freshman to pick up the slack. But trust me when I say that if anyone can bring out the best and get this team rolling....its Pat. The Freshman in the post are already improving by leaps and bounds. I look for Ely to move back to the 4 spot as well.....especially when Parker returns.

Pat's new offense really will work well when everyone gets comfortable, the entire league has learned how to stop the motion offense and it was time for a change. Pat is only trying to mold the offense around the talent, which is a must to stay competitive.

Plus don't forget Pat has had a National Championship team.....lose 10 games in teh regular season......Don't lose faith...Pat Summitt is on the sidelines!

I suspect the weight training has had an effect on the shooting. Spencer has put on some muscle that wasn't there last year and I suspect the rest of them have as well. Don't forget, we seem to start off every year kinda sluggishly.

Pat will bring em around and it won't be touchy feely discussions more like the drill sgt from Full Metal Jacket

I have no doubts that they'll turn it around, why I'm waiting for the SEC schedule to start before judging them.

The road doesn't get any easier though with games against Louisianna Tech, Stanford, and of course UConn coming up still before the SEC games start.

Pat coaches for March not December.

While a lot of people say that, I don't think that is true. By saying that, it sounds like she doesn't care about the early games. I don't think anything is further from the truth. Pat coaches and expects to win all of the time. To have a great March, you first have to be successful in the months prior to it.

That is why she plays the tough schedules, yes she wants to win but its more important to win at the right time.

As long as they beat Weeno Auriemma, I will be happy.

She schedules tough games to make her team better equipped to handle the tough teams that they will face in the NCAA tournament. She expects to win, but she also expects improvement over the course of the season. Before everybody gets bent out of shape over 2 losses.... the Lady Vols won the 1997 National Championship with a 29-10 record.... yes 10 losses!

I know it's unusual to have two losses at this time of the year. Have no fear, Pat will have them ready. Hopefully by tournament time, they won't have more than 4-5 losses. LSU is tough and don't forget UConn. It's a tough schedule every season for the Lady Vols. The Lady Vols have the #1 toughest scdhedule in WNCAA. :good: That's why they are one of the top 5 WNCAA programs in women's basketball. GO LADY VOLS!!!!!! The name of the game is "determination and concentration."

Not to alot of people. I can't recall Phil's name being mentioned for an NFL job like Saban's name has. Even though he has a very good winning percentage.

Saban has NFL coaching experience, having come from the NFL when he took the head coaching job at Michigan State in the mid 1990's.
