"Islam is more than a religion. It is a political system."

This statement was made to me by a Syrian student at UT who converted to Islamic Fundamentalism while we were there. He was searching for answers to the failings of his country and the failings of societies throughout his part of the world. Well, someone came along and literally brainwashed him with the belief that the true culture of his society was altered long ago...by...Western influences. He came to believe that his culture was not really inferior, that it contained the answers suppressed for centuries...to the world's problems all along...Islam...more than a religion...a political system! It was as if a light went off in his head that blinded all other thoughts. He reminded me of those who swallow Marxism hook, line, and sinker...in the belief that all of the world's problems could be solved with a proletariat revolution. Only the Islamist Fundamentalists, like other religious fundamentalists, want to go back in time to solve the world's problems, back to the good old days. Islam is a highly evolved theocracy, a political system which rejects secularism and our Constitutional belief in the separation of church and state.

Can Islam evolve and adapt to modern life and democratic government? That is their challenge, but I do not think that it should become America's challenge. Before we accept Muslim people into our country, we must realize that their religion is more than a religion. It is a political system.

Care to explain indonesia?

What about Indonesia?

Islam is a religion. Islam or any other religion can coexist with a secular republic.

Wrongo bucko.

Islam cannot coexist with any secular republic in a state of peace, it is written in the koran, which is supposedly holy scripture that all moslems are at war with any such entity until judgement day.

Signed,
David Koresh

Islam consists of three books: the Koran, the Sharia, and the Hadith. Koran is the prophecy of Mohamad, communicated orally in Arabic for ten years after his death until it was committed to writing. The Sharia is a highly developed set definitions, concepts, laws, and judgments. The Hadith is a book of remembrances and observations about Mohamad's personal life.

And you've read them, right?

Care to explain indonesia?

In July of 2011 the council of Ulamos, Indonesia's top clerical body, banned liberalism, pluralism, and secularism because the are anti islam.
Muslims will play the victim role until they have strength in numbers. Once they have strength they will push their agenda. You need onlylook at the diminishing cultures of Europe and southeast asia for your proof.

202 million Muslims living peacefully.

A simple google search of islam in indonesia will prove otherwise. Threats and acts of violence have greatly increased over ther last few years. This include suicide bombings, beheadings of priests, burning down of churches, amongs other acts.
The government of indonesia once thought the same as many in this country do. They have now learned otherwise but are simply powerless to do anything about it.
Do not forget the beheading of three christian schoolgirls in 2006. Islamic militants claimed responsibility for that act. If that is living peacefully i dont want to see them on the war path

I didn't say there weren't acts of violence. There are acts of violence here. I almost put in the word "relatively" before peaceful. I guess I should have.
