Bray, Hunter and (likely) Patterson are out the door. Get over it. Move on. Frankly, the WR position in college ball is virtually irrelevant when it comes to a key component of winning it all.

Do this: Name a single wide receiver who was a huge factor in the SEC's 6-run right now for NCs. Julio Jones, OK. Granted. Any others? Nope.

How about QB's? Tebow (2x) and Newton. They were big contributors. Bray had the talent to *throw* for an NC, but ran like my friggin grandma.

Here's what really wins NCs: A dominating, nasty defense, and an in-your-face running attack. Tebow and the wildcat has put the onus more on the quarterback for running, but it's still *running* yardage that wins it all. Remember Tebow straight up the middle against us... again and again and again. Yet, we couldn't stop it. Remember how we used to dominate teams in the 90s? Yeah... ran their asses over with big O-lines and pissed off running backs.

I wish Bray, Hunter and CP the best of luck, but they weren't our keys to returning to the big time. Hopefully, Butch and company will study our competition and understand what it takes to win in this league. It ain't that complicated.

Yes, it is a well-worn and time-tested recipe, one that dates all the way back to Neyland himself.

Remember though Teblow was like Mongo from Blazing Saddles. His ability (or lack there of) was/is/has been exposed in the NFL. Ill admit if we could find our own lumbering moron man child to just bumble down field and score TD's I wouldn't mind.

It starts with the desire and the commitment to make it happen, then the willingness to allocate the resources needed to make the commitment a reality-- none of which we currently have. Creating a winning culture starts at the top, and we're a top-down mess and have been for years.

Have you ever coached any team sport at any level?

Julio Jones, Percy Harvin, Riley Cooper. That's three NFL starters who were major parts of championship teams. I get what you are trying to say, but I think you are oversimplifying. These SEC national championship teams were loaded and balanced from top to bottom for the most part.

Heck, the 2007 LSU team had Holliday, Brandon LaFell, and Early Doucet. All were beasts and have productive NFL careers. WR was actually the strength of that team.

Dude bj boy offense is not designed to power run.. even though everyone will say he runs the ball a lot its not power running... like the NC in the sec uses.. unless we get a renowned or newton type qb we will not win a NC with this type off.. will not happen we might win 8 or 9 games a year but teams will stuff the run n make u pass n that spells trouble.. the ducks , mountaineers, hokies and countless others have tried some version and won games but when they meet a def with speed they lose...

I will get flame but I think we struggle with this off and no we don't have 5 years until he gets in recruits in as seniors.... check the stats great coaches win in year 2 of the rebuild not year 5.

Now I have to sux it up n watch the Gatorade in year 2 play in the sugar bowl..

Go vols
