What kind of progress do we see from Cam this year?

Obviously an above average freshman player, will we see continued progress or perhaps a sophomore slump with flashes of brilliance? It comes down to the coaching staff and player more so than anything but I would like to hear VN's opinion on the matter.

I would say more of an improvement as he has the continuity of the staff, and he will have more options (speed) around him to play more loose in the secondary.

He's quickly becoming my favorite.

Responded surprisingly quickly to coaching last season...especially considering he wasn't an EE...had to have used a lot of instinct based reactions and still guessed right a large number of the time. Imagine if he starts the season fully knowing what he's doing out there!

I thought he was a early enrollee?

He will improve because the team that surrounds him will make his work easier, with coleman moving to the nickel there is going to be more speed on the field...Look for TK jr to push LaDarrell McNeil for his Saftey position, which will shore up his side...but dont sleep on in coming Evan Berry running a 4:4-4:3 and Rashaan Gaulden is said to have hips and cover skills of a Pro

A lot will depend on how the other side of the field plays and what you define as a slump. Statistically speaking, he may not have a big year if teams are constantly picking on the other side.

I think he will have another solid year, then truly become a star as a Junior. I hope I'm wrong though and he is a star for the next 2 years

It will be better than last year and that is all we can hope for-- there are going to be several Soph's that make a huge leap forward.

I'm going to guess the ball will go away from Cam as much as possible. Everyone is aware of him now. He may not have the same stats as last year, but when the play does come his way we'll probably see a more experienced/developed version of his play from last year.

My question is who will be the 2014 version of Cam Sutton?

I wholeheartedly agree with the field. Hopefully, we have more defense packages implemented into our system so that we can give looks that aren't on out past years tape.

Cam was phenomenal as a true freshman who didn't EE last year. He was great in zone coverages which is what we mostly played last year. Can he be great shutting down top SEC WRs one on one going forward? Will be fun to watch.

I'm guessing Emmmanuel Mosely, on campus as an EE, speed demon, and by all accounts has responded well to coaching. Plus he had that Spring Practice swat on Marquez North, right?

Forward progress, I hope.

Me too. But, as surprising as he was as a FR, I'm afraid to many Vol fans have elevated his talent to an unreasonable elite level when he appears to be an above average SEC DB.
I expect him to do well this year. But I'm also expecting some hand wringing around here if he gets abused in a fashion similar to how Amari Cooper did last year. The legend is making him "Deion Sanders" as a true sophomore who is good, on a bad SEC defense.

If Cam doesn't show improvement in Year 2, he should be fired. He'll be on the hot seat going into Year 3.

CAM HASN'T SHOWN US ANYTHING, YOU GUYS

YEAH HE WON IN THE BIG EAST BUT THIS IS GROWN MAN FOOTBAW YAHHH RABBLE RABBLE

With Mosely at CB#2 spot, it is harder to avoid Cam, so I expect more challenges and opportunities. With TK2 & Cortez, etc boltering Safeties and NB we should be solid on the backend.

Bates will also help out in pass coverage.

Now if we can get consistant pressure from front 4, that will shorten the "on orbit" time for secondary and greatly increase effectiveness.

We lined up in cover 1 quite a bit and he never got beat deep.

With that said, I fully expect him to make more plays but hes going to get beat on a few too. Happens to everyone.

Got beat by Kevin Norwood and Jordan Matthews if I recall
