We currently have 23 commits. We probably have enough room for about 5-7 more.

We let go of Cotman(as he said himself in an interview)because we wanted a more experienced CB.

Gaddy bros were let go by what a lot of people are saying is for grades.

If we can add 7 more we add CB depth OL depth and a couple skill position players as well.

1. Corker CB high 3*
2. Smith OL 5*
3. Harris WR 4*
4. Moore OL 4*
5. Etienne RB 4*\Felix RB 3*
6. Nixon CB 3* JUCO
7. And add a DT to help make up for loss of Breon Gaddy.

If we don't have room for 7 you take any combination of those guys listed and we finish with a top 15 class. Not bad but not great. With how things are going though 8-4 with a top 15 class is salvageable, but these guys listed are our top wants and needs for sure. I think we end with these guys and we should be fairly happy. What say you volnation?

What needs to happen is Butch, IMO, has to land some top talent to restore some faith in the program. We missed out on Higgins and Amari Rodgers in state, and Jacoby Stevens as well. There are 5 Mr. Football Recipients not attending TN.

We also are going to strike out on DeAngelo Gibbs, a long time Vol target who for almost a year was a Vol favorite/supposed silent commit.

Butch HAS to land Trey Smith. He cannot let almost all of the top talent in the 2017 class, one of the best ever in TN, leave the state. He also needs to go out there and land a couple of highly-regarded 4* receivers, and some CB's that can actually play.

If he sputters to the end of the recruiting finish line it's not going to be a promising sign for the future. It's clear he is not developing talent as well as some coaches, so we need to be recruiting at a high level to compensate for that.

2. Trey smith ol 5*
3. Tee higgins wr 5*
4. Moore ol 4*
5. Cam akers rb 5*
6. Some cb 4* juco (immediate help)
7. And add a 5* or 4* dt to help make up for loss of breon gaddy.
8. Amari rodgers wr 4*

we need to make room for these 8 and get them and we finish with a top 5 class. Totally great. With how things are going though 8-4 with a top 5 class is achieveable since most are homestate guys. These guys listed are our top wants and needs for sure. I think we end with these guys and we should be fairly happy. What say you volnation?

My best guess:

23 current commits. I think we'll replace a current WR with one more ready to contribute in 2017. I think we lose 1 of our 4 LB's, lose 1 of Labruzza or Shamburger, and add the following:

1 QB (Bubba Thompson, Keytaon Thompson, Hendon Hooker, Jay Urich)
1 more RB (Cam Akers, Travis Etienne, Darrian Felix, Damon Williams, Javon Leake)
1-2 more OL (Trey Smith, TJ Moore, ??)
1 more DE (LaBryan Ray, Matthew Butler, Ryan Johnson, Deandre Johnson)
1 more DT (Rutger Reitmaier, Elijah Conliffe)
1 more CB (Yusuf Corker, Keisean Nixon)

Leaving us with 28-29 commits on NSD 2017. Again, all JMO.

Pretty good assessment however I am going to say we try and get two DTs somehow.

I like your list but I think we drop labruzza and take corker and Nixon inalso think we take 2 dt and at least 1 more receiver.

I don't even care how many stars they have as Butch has proven that he can't coach 5-star players ala Kongbo, Phillips, Hurd, McKenzie, P. Williams, Richmond, Justin Martin was considered a "can't miss - day 1" starter, btw, what happened to Butcher as he was a top 150 player,

Kongbo is coming along. Richmond is a red shirt freshman and coming along. Philips has been injured some but is coming along. Hurd almost broke the Tennessee rushing record. Williams had maturity problems imo. Butcher has had serious knee problems. There is still hope for Martin.

Neither Kongbo nor Phillips are DTs. They do not play proper DT technique. We need the players who are in the game to play proper technique. This needs to happen sooner rather than later; some guys never develop properly. We need better players and coaches who can develop their potential quickly. To say our D was pathetic is an understatement.

what we need is another coaching staff...Debord was horrible at Michigan and he is horrible here...If Butch stays , he needs to fire and revamp almost his whole coaching staff..IMO....VFL here and always will be no matter if we never become great again....:mf_surrender::spank:

Helfrich for OC, retain Shoop as DC but give him the reigns to hire his own staff. This is best case scenario for next year
