This is almost the exact same scenario as USC. A one loss SEC team coming to play a noon game at Neyland on ESPN after soundly beating Arkansas.

First and foremost be aware of a poster named DooleysOrangePants. Apparently he's an Auburn troll who is bragging to other Auburn fans about his troll job.

Anyways here goes:

-Pretty much zero respect. Not surprising. A lot of "can't make fun of Tennessee after the season they've had" talk.

-Much like South Carolina did, they are referencing their victory over Arkansas as a prelude to this game. They seem to think we are of the same talent level as Arky.

-They are concerned about Bama at this point. Chalking up us and Georgia as a win.

-There's a thread specifically titled "Volnation is not optimistic". Referencing posts from this site saying we will get killed.

-General predictions have us scoring between 15-20 and them scoring 38-45.

-They are pulling the "lets just hope our players get out safely since Tennessee tries to injure key players" nonsense.

-They are giving big time respect to Dobbs. Saying he will probably have great stats.

-One pretty cool thing I saw. A poster is asking about Knoxville because he's never made the trip. A lot of Auburn fans are responding saying how awesome our stadium and campus is and how cool the river is by the stadium. So I guess we're getting respect in that area.

-Quite a few posters are referring to this game as a "bye week".

-They're not happy about the 7 pt spread. Saying Vegas hasn't given them their respect all year.

-They're pretty convinced they will rush well on us. Especially the QB.

-They are referencing the South Alabama game a lot. That seems to be a pretty general trend among rival teams.

-Not intimidated by Neyland.

-Also not intimidated by our O-line.

Pretty much all I found. As I said, they are worried about Bama. They see us as a dust up for UGA, and they see UGA as a dust up for Bama. But a lot of them think they will beat Bama so the delusion doesn't surprise me.

They came in here in 1985 pretty confident as the land's #1 ranked team & a HeisTman trophy winner & left with their tiger tail tucked between their legs.

Funny post by a "Vol Fan" on a AU message board basically saying the Vols were gonna get smashed. Not a true Vol fan IMO.

All the AU posters were a little confused lulz.

Well they at least think we're going to score more than the three points we put up against Missouri last week. If that happens, can we at least claim progress?

I really appreciate you making these threads each week. They usually add a little fire for me leading up to the game, but this week it appears that their points match my concerns for the game. Once again, thanks for putting these threads together each week.

Agree. Just hope some are board material.

I hope the team is overlooking us too, just like some of their fans apparently are. Neyland stadium better be rocking on Saturday, and it better be the loudest its been all year, if that is even possible. I know I'll be there doing my part!! GO VOLS!!!!!!!!!!!

If the Vols can keep it a one score game then yes. But I really think the Vols (team and fanbase) are thirsty for a win.

I'm convinced of that as well.

Also not intimidated by our O-line.

If they've watched game film from the last 2 weeks I can understand why not.

They are, for the most part, correct

And so was South Carolina :shakehead:

We don't have a clue how this team is going to play this weekend, but if there is one thing that has been constant throughout the whole season is that we play MUCH better at home. Our defense plays lights out at home and plays like they're scared at the opponent's house.

How many teams in the SEC would ALSO have the 1 loss record they do with that crappy schedule they have had so far? Most would, but they still run their mouth as if they have accomplished something already this year. Nick Marshall is a one way QB with great potential breaking the pocket but kid has a mediocre arm.

Tre Mason is for real but he is still one guy and the defense has yet to stop a good team. Let them run their mouth and when the finish the season with 3 or 4 losses, we all laugh together at the special kids on the plains.

I'd probably be offended by the tone of their comments, but I can't disagree with some of the points they are making. We are what we are: a 4 win / 5 loss team that is in the 80's or worse in total offense and total defense, and giving up more points than we score.

Of their comments I'd say, too much emphasis on that South Alabama game. I'm sure their analysis doesn't take into account Worley's three interceptions that made that game much, much closer than it really was or the two games that followed it (which showed we were better than that final score). I'd also say we are clearly better than Arkansas.

That said, we have the worst rushing defense in the SEC and they have one of the top 5 or 6 rushing offenses in the country. Those two combined make me think they have a point that Auburn should put up a lot of rushing yards on us.

In the end, I think Neyland will be a bigger factor than they realize, particularly since they are still a young team.

28-24 bad guys win a nail biter.

I was honestly more offended by Missouri, but we see how that turned out...

Our schedule continues to skew perceptions of us.

We got a tiny dose of respect the week after the USC game. Then we got smashed by Bama, as 99% of FBS teams would, and we're same ol UT again. Then we got smashed by Mizzou @ at their place, as 90% of FBS teams would, and we're absolutely terrible.

I don't expect us to win this game, but I didn't expect us to beat USC either...or even keep it close, to be honest.

Gamecocks beat Arky 52-0, lose in Neyland following week.

Tigers beat Arky 35-17, but will beat us in Neyland much worse?

OK. They certainly have the system and players to do it, but I would not be overly confident if I were them.
