What Other Message Boards Are Saying: Auburn Edition

First and foremost be aware of a poster named DooleysOrangePants. Apparently he's an Auburn troll who is bragging to other Auburn fans about his troll job.

Anyways here goes:

-Pretty much zero respect. Not surprising. A lot of "can't make fun of Tennessee after the season they've had" talk.

-Much like South Carolina did, they are referencing their victory over Arkansas as a prelude to this game. They seem to think we are of the same talent level as Arky.

-They are concerned about Bama at this point. Chalking up us and Georgia as a win.

-There's a thread specifically titled "Volnation is not optimistic". Referencing posts from this site saying we will get killed.

-General predictions have us scoring between 15-20 and them scoring 38-45.

-They are pulling the "lets just hope our players get out safely since Tennessee tries to injure key players" nonsense.

-They are giving big time respect to Dobbs. Saying he will probably have great stats.

-One pretty cool thing I saw. A poster is asking about Knoxville because he's never made the trip. A lot of Auburn fans are responding saying how awesome our stadium and campus is and how cool the river is by the stadium. So I guess we're getting respect in that area.

-Quite a few posters are referring to this game as a "bye week".

-They're not happy about the 7 pt spread. Saying Vegas hasn't given them their respect all year.

-They're pretty convinced they will rush well on us. Especially the QB.

-They are referencing the South Alabama game a lot. That seems to be a pretty general trend among rival teams.

-Not intimidated by Neyland.

-Also not intimidated by our O-line.

Pretty much all I found. As I said, they are worried about Bama. They see us as a dust up for UGA, and they see UGA as a dust up for Bama. But a lot of them think they will beat Bama so the delusion doesn't surprise me.

These comments are either exactly right if the Tennessee team that played Missouri shows up, or they are wrong if the team that played USC shows up.

The fact that we as fans have no clue which of those will end up being true says everything you need to know about the state of Tennessee football.

CBJ needs to build his brick wall higher, and maybe hire some extra contractors to get the job done ahead of schedule.

Then we got smashed by Mizzou @ at their place, as 90% of FBS teams would, and we're absolutely terrible.

Just to clear up any ambiguity... we were absolutely terrible against Missouri. That is a fact and has nothing to do with who we played and where we played. CBJ said as much after the game and he didnt have to say it. We all saw that our team didnt even show up on offense or defense. Looked EXACTLY like a Derek Dooley coached team.

Haven't followed AU much this year. Are they like USCe in their running game or Mizzou? If they're a spread the field little quick offense we are in trouble. If they have a TE and sometimes FB power game we got a shot in my opinion. If we can't rush the football this week we lose big time. Let's give them some problems ourselves this Saturday by showing them the loudest stadium that they've played in this season.

If we had their wins and they had our loses.... How much of these comments would be coming from Volnation?

It's like debating our own stupid comments.

Last week many were talking about how overrated Missouri was and how we were going to surprise them. Then many of those same posters started crying threads blaming everyone except reality.

Our own posters write checks with their mouth that our coaches and teams can't cash. It's like, you better play perfectly with every ounce of potential or you suck, the coaches suck..... Etc.

This is not a comment towards everyone but I find these, "what they are saying on other forums" to be very hypocritical.

The comment: -They are pulling the "lets just hope our players get out safely since Tennessee tries to injure key players" nonsense.

I will probably be hated for this, but folks who know me as a poster, know I'm a true Vol loving fan who also calls it as I see it. It has disturbed me from to time to see our LBs and CBs mostly dive low to the knees and shins of opposing players. If you're honest and watch closely, you'll see this often. I'm not talking about waist high impediments close to the sidelines to force a player out of bounds. So he doesn't leap over or slip by a tackle and score. No, I mean deliberate diving at vulnerable leg areas. I've never said it to anyone except to my wife until now. I hope that stops because I honestly believe USCe tried to do the same to Neal. But Neal's conditioning let him escape serious long term injury. I'm saying if this continues, opponents will deliberately seek to do the same to us. I despise lending any semblance of credibility to Auburn fan claims. I despise it, but I've seen it more than a few times to my dismay.

Very well said! Fans get too high and too low at the drop of a hat.

Food for thought for High Horse Auburn fans.....28 September 1985.

So you have to go back nearly 30 years to make your point?

I think this is mostly due to the new rules. You can't hit high so hit low. Plus, undersized corners often have to hit beefy SEC RBs low anyways. I don't see any malicious intent in our players tackling.

I was going to say the same - targeting is making people go lower for hits and tackles to avoid 15 and an ejection. That said, I'll go on record: I'm not worried about injuries, I'm worried about winning. One at a time.
