I have a hard time believing that Paterno actually runs stuff now. It seems now he is more of a figure than an administrator. Surely Penn State has an "unofficial" head coach

I suspect Joe Pa isn't even alive anymore. I think they have a "Weekend at Bernie's" kind of thing going on at Penn State.

If you lined up his 85 scholarship players, I would be shocked if he could tell you the first and last name of more than 15.

At the same time, if I am a recruit how do you turn down a scholarship offer from him? That would be pretty cool.

I think he is a real selfish guy, he should have stepped aside a decade+ ago. I have seen two games with him coaching in the last 5 years in person and he doesn't even talk to anyone during the game, they are now showing him up in the booth, no headset, not talking to anyone, doubt he has any real input on anything. Quite sad to be honest.

Yeah, so selfish that he donates his entire salary right back to the university. What a bastage!

There is additional ways of being selfish, he is basically holding the school hostage. He should have given it up a decade+ ago, he had his chance, you let someone else have their time in the sun. The whole thing is a farce and nobody in the media has the guts to call it what it is.

How can he be coaching from the booth when he doesn't wear a headset in the booth? That one really puzzeled me when he was injured.

Interesting thought; Joe Paterno coached against Bear Bryant, who coached against Robert Neyland. That's just...crazy to me how long some of these guys stay in the business.

Mark Bradley, the DC, is the unofficial HC. The ginger is the WR coach, even though he played QB for Penn St., because Jay Paterno is the QB coach, thus the reason they've sucked at that position for years.

We have a statue of Neyland, Bama has a statue of Bear, Penn St. has a statue of JoePa, that just happens to still be alive.
