Tennessee is going into the meat of SEC play. It's time to look at the rotation. This is my personal rotation.
PG- Thompson 25/Barton 15
Thompson earned his starting spot tonight. You lose a little on defense (not as much quickness, but more length), but his ability to break down a trap and get in the paint with his passing ability is something Tennessee has not had since Bobby Maze was on The Hill. Barton can be a nice third guard with his outside shooting and defense and still contribute.
SG- McRae 33/Barton 7
McRae is easily the starting two guard and will continue to get playing time. I want Barton to get a little bit of time at two guard. He can really shoot off the catch and has enough length to guard opposing two's. Plus you get a little more ball handling there.
SF- Richardson 30/Moore 10
Josh is having a nice year, but he has to improve on the road. Moore is having a great run as the sixth man and his energy is palpable. He should continue to get run and he is continuing to improve. He's a menace on defense.
PF- Maymon 20/ Moore 15/Reese 5
Maymon is playing 27 minutes a night. That's pretty impressive considering his knees. I love Moore as an athletic four who can help break the trap. Reese is still rebounding well, but his offense is very limited. I'm fine with Davis getting 5 minutes also
C- Stokes 30/Maymon 7/Pops 3
Nothing new here. I don't mind Pops getting a couple spot minutes to give Maymon an extra rest in the first half and if Stokes gets a first foul early (like against Ole Miss and LSU).
So total breakdown is:
McRae- 33
Richardson- 30
Stokes- 30
Maymon- 30
Thompson- 25
Moore- 25
Barton- 22
Reese- 5
Pops- 3
Nine man rotation, with seven players getting the bulk of the minutes. If you wanna give Edwards 5 minutes at the 3 and give Moore some more minutes at the 4, that's good too.
