What Tennessee colleges spend on Basketball

For teams like Belmont their travel expenses are relatively low compared to UT, Vandy, and Memphis. Belmont probably takes a bus to most, if not all, of their games. UT isn't taking a bus to Gainesville, LSU, Maui, etc.

Arena costs have to be the main driver there.

I would be inclined to agree. If you look at the comparative costs of schools like UTC vs. APSU, you're talking 11,200 at the McKenzie arena vs (I'm guessing) 8K at APSU? I'm sure there's a much bigger operating cost per game. It would be the same in football obviously. Neyland is going to cost substantially more to operate per game day than Vandy would and they're both SEC teams. I think it's got a lot to do with size (giggity, and no homo).

Kind of a stupid article. I would of been surprised if we did not spend the most. I would like to see more info. Not really sure where they get the cost per player.

I assume they got it from dividing the game day expenses by the number of player therefore giving you the average.

The University owns the building, but does the Athletic Department have to pay for it's use?

Isn't that part of the "Game Day Expenses" statistic?

I wonder how much each school spends on just recruiting?

Would think that is part of it but probably not all. Kind of an ambiguous article. Gives figures but no insight on assumptions or what is included/not included.

Yeah that is what I was thinking, but I still do not see what they are trying to show. I just do not see the correlation to basketball expenses and per player.

It's certainly redundant since every team has the same number of players.

Maybe they're trying to comment on the cost of athletics at the collegiate level and make a statement about priorities? :ermm: It's a pretty terrible article if that's their goal.
