I`ve spent the last 24 hours in airports on my way to Iquitos, Peru and I find out that we get waxed in Miami International. 22 points to USC? I knew we were not looking very solid lately, but that`s pitiful.

I made a big to do about being happy with the results thus far. Well, scratch that. The results now show a 22 point ass whipping from a team we should easily beat. The only consolation is that we seem to have one complete clusterf-k every year. I remember getting pummeled by Texas a year we went to the Sweet 16 and got to number 1. Of course, Texas was a better team than USC, but, hopefully, this is something that we got out of our system. Maybe, maybe not. It`s still December and there`s plenty of time to regroup.

What happened? Pearl got schooled by O'Neil.

Comparing this loss to the past December bombs we've had is silly. Those were all at the least decent teams. This one is horrible.

They haven't "regrouped" from last season, so pray tell what evidence you have that they will do it anytime soon.

If he can't coach any X's and O's (which is becoming more and more apparent), then why not play 40 minutes of Hell ala Arkansas under Nolan Richardson???

Don't ever remember them running great half court sets, but they certainly wore down their opponents.

I guess, though, they did have guys like Todd Day who could knock down a wide open shot...

Frankly, what happened is that USC took it's foot off the gas. 22 points doesn't begin to describe the physical nature of the beating.

Hell, I think the rebounding margin was even larger.

Corliss Williamson scored a whole bunch of points in the halfcourt. Guys like Lee Mayberry and Corey Beck are also a whole Hell of a lot better than the Bobby Mazes and Melvin Goins of the world.

Last night, the collective opinion of some objective Vol fans was finally proven correct

Quite simply: a one game expose of our shortcomings under Pearl.

It was the worst that I remember seeing us play in the past 4 years.

Unimane, I watched the whole game start to finish, I was recording it and watched it again.

When Chism started out 0-3 on three pointers and we ran 0 plays I was concerned. When he made one to tie it 19-19 and they were physically abusing us I was very concerned.

It is the worst loss under Bruce Pearl, and there is not a close second.

They did have a 23 year old player in Gerrity who looked like a 45 year old PG. He looked older than John Stockton when he retired but he shredded us like he was John Wall.

We do not know how good Gerrity is, but I will tell you this, they put a white kid from Montenegro who is 6-10 on Tyler Smith and absolutely shut him down.

We did not play defense, we did not rebound and it was apparent that on a night when we could not hit the ocean we did not have any plays to run to get open.

I still think that we will be okay, but I also thought that the SEC was better than the Big 10 and Saturday although Georgia beat Illinois everyone else looked terrible and freaking Auburn lost again today.

Suck suck suck.

The 4 seniors on our team looked like they had 0 NBA prospects not the 3 that Kevin O'Neill credited us with. I had to listen to the commentators for USC and they said that either Gerrity is amazing and USC can win the Pac 10, or TN was just that bad. I think it is somewhere in between the two.

Bruce Pearl should apologize to the fans. That was like getting punched in the nuts.

The OSU loss las year looked closer, but was a much worse loss IMO. Meant more and we were outcoached by a guy that can't coach. Our coaching philosophy murdered us in that game. Yesterday our coaching approach killed us, but the game will soon be forgotten and means little.

Not making excuses for UT or Pearl, they did play bad in every phase of the game, but I know games on the west coast, especially L.A. can be a killer for a team. The same in football, I have seen heavy Big 10 favorites for years go to the Rose Bowl and get waxed. Warm weather, girls, beaches, Playboy parties have done tems in. I don't know how long UT was there, but overlooking USC, and having a mentally weak team to begin with was too much to overcome.
Bruce should take alot of the blame,he has done wonders for UT,but it is his job to coach and motivate.I think they are loaded with talent, but have to play alot smarter basketball. Maybe them headbands are too tight.
I think Tennessee will have a great season.
