My wife enjoys playing Christmas music starting pretty much at thanksgiving. Thing is she likes the heavy religious stuff (despite not being religious at all) like Silent Night, Hark the Angles, and Come all aye Faithful. So she starts a Pandora station with Silent night and all it plays is this sloooow choir music.

I prefer the uptempo secular music from the 40s and 50s like Holly Jolly Christmas, Mele Kalikimaka, and (a personal favorite) The Chipmunks Christmas Song.

However, I do enjoy the Charlie Brown Christmas album that is essentially Jazz renditions of some of those religious songs.

Lastly, I find modern pop Christmas songs completely unlistenable.

I'm with you. Songza has a 1950's Christmas channel that's pretty good.

Christmas with the Devil - Spinal Tap
This is Halloween - Marilyn Manson (Nightmare Before Christmas OST)
Christmas in Hollis - Run DMC

Everything else is better left not played.

Hawaiian, especially if sung by Na Leo Pilimehana. I like the mix of slack key guitar and good vocals--especially when they do traditional hymns.

Hymns
Classic carols
Messiah
Some pop
Not too keen on uptempo "Frosty the Snowman" or "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer" type stuff

Every time I hear Dean Martin call Rudolph "Rudy", it makes me want to drive my car off a cliff.

Other than that I enjoy oldies Christmas music, and classical/orchestra/instrumental stuff like the Boston Pops.

Any traditional country Christmas songs. I love the Kenny Chesney Christmas album. All in all I'd have to say either Brenda Lee Rockin around the Christmas tree and Elvis' Blue Christmas are my favorites.
