Congratulations to Al. Tennesseans, whether they like him or not, should be proud. First Tennessean to win the Nobel Prize for Peace since Cordell Hull.

I hope he runs and saves the country from the current field, in both parties.

What would Spotted Al do to save the country? He already promised and failed to rid the world of the evils of tobacco.

in a Corso voice:

"NOT SO FAST MY FRIEND". Ole Al and Tipsy need to stay put. They already did run the white house. What?..., yall think Billy boy was actually making decisions? Please. Al had his chance and lost it. He has done some good things since then and I commend him. The best thing he could do for this country however, is stay the hell outta the Presidential Race.

I read the following from the London Telegraph ...

... and spent the next 30 minutes sopping spewed coffee off my keypad and monitor.

Enjoy:

The former US Vice-President has already taken over from Michael Moore as the most sanctimonious lardbutt Yank on the planet. Can you imagine what he'll be like now that the Norwegian Nobel committee has given him the prize?

What has Al Gore done for world peace? - Telegraph

:eek:lol:

What I find intresting is 80% of those who are critical of Al Gore don't talk about facts, they repeat about what they heard someone they percieved as cool say about Al that sounded funny. Everyone wants to be accepted so the bandwagon has unlimited seats. He never said he invented the internet, but he did win the popular vote. It's a fair space of time to election day...it may very well be he enters the race. After all think about it, since we've already had a southern politician that's about as sharp as a bowl of wet mice as the commander in chief...no need to change the White House up with decor options.

I don't think he'll get in the race, but if he does, I predict he'll run away with it.

We know what he said - and the fact remains that he is a blowhard.

Winning the popular vote only wins you the popular vote.

Yes he won the popular vote which means more were for him than for Bush. Which means to me the electoral voting process is flawed if it doesnt reflect the will of the majority, of course this flaw benefitted repubs so you must be ok with that. As far as blowhard that is relative, if he were repub he'd just be outspoken and vocal.

I'm okay with the outcome since that is the law of the land. Likewise, my opinion of Al is driven by his own actions and statements rather than his political affiliation.

I haven't asserted you only like Al because you are a democrat (I assume). Why marginalize my view by saying it is simply based on the party I tend to agree with more?

Al Gore brought attention to a serious issue by exaggerating and distorting facts. It would be nice to see someone (anyone) play it straight rather than work an angle to push their own agenda.

Your post is in 3 paragraphs so I'll rebut in kind.

1. I'll conceed he's not a poster boy for common sense, he's radical in his statements and opinions. But perhaps one of his weaknesses is, is that it's difficult to make himself marketable to moderates and conservatives because this catagory of people find comfort in grounded thinking rather than the highminded view of the way things should be.

2. I believe I lean to moderate democrat, I have some liberal ideas as well as some conservative points of view. I like Al or more correctly stated I agree with some of his points of view, because I feel he speaks from passion about issues he at his core believes are the true and right thing to do.

3. It possible he distorted facts(if he did)to do just that bring attention to a serious issue. Because politics in and of itself is half awake boring beauracracy that doesnt argue/solve issues...it argues because an opponent disagrees, and solves little.
