What will make you happy with regards to the quarterback position?

60% Completion percentage?
2,500 Yards passing?
24 Touchdowns?
Less than 10 interceptions?

What will make you happy with regards to the running back position?
4.5 Yards a carry?
1150 Yards Rushing?
More than 9 touchdowns?
20 Or more receptions?

What will make you happy with regards to the wide receiver/tight end position?
Over 10.0 yards per catch?
Less than 3 dropped passes a game?
Someone step up and catch 50 balls?
Tight end catches more than 20 balls?

Stats do not have any thing to with winning? Come on!

If the Vols run for 4.5 a carry and only give up 3.0 or under we can talk about wins.

i think the thing that will make everyone happy is reducing the mistakes, i don't think anyone has to have a jugernaut offense to be happy, but i will say this, had we not dropped 3/4 of the passes last year, all of the offensive stats would have been better, and probably would have resulted in probably 3 more wins.

reduce mistakes, take advantage of opportunities. and WIN.

Hang on to the friggin ball, stretch out and catch the ones that hit you in the hands, stop blocking in the back on every other punt and kickoff return and I'll be happy. Catches by the tight end would be a stat that I would like to see increase as well.

On paper we've filled in holes in many needed areas except for one: Special Teams. Until THAT is addressed I don't see favorable situations for us against the big boys. We need that one area to throw us over the top: field position, punting, kicking, and returns. Someone put sticky tape in the hands of these guys....

Come on now , with last year's #1 recruiting class and what we have coming this year, we certainly have to have some key guys somewhere that can be effective on special teams.

As has been said many times before. Stats are for losers.

I want to see UT win against the teams we SHOULD beat by COMFORTABLE margins.

I want to see DEFINITE improvement! That means not having to DIG for some obscure stat showing MINOR improvement.

I want to see our offense EXPAND beyond the same old PREDICTABLE 8 play selections now offered.

I want to see our Coaches USE ALL the outstanding talented speed UT has in the barn.

I want to see UT's Offense DICTATE their scheme. No more wimpy "we'll take what they give us" b.s.

I want to see a WELL PREPARED OFFENSE play with authority, know what they are doing & play balls to the wall 100% of the game.

I want to see UNQUESTIONABLE overall game to game improvement.

I want to see a well DISPLICINED team (o & d) show up every game.

I want to see a Head Coach diplay some REAL LEADERSHIP & ACCOUNTABILITY! No more lame hand clapping and it's always someone elses fault b.s.

I never want to see UT have a STAGNANT, REGRESSIVE, UNIMAGITIVE, SLOW & LAZY Football Staff again.

I understand UT's not going to win every game, but I cannot accept UT being outcoached!!!

Agree with Jakez!! Just settle on one QB--no more flip-flopping like last year. Show some leadership by sticking to something.

My point in listing that, was UT has not consistently improved on offense from game one against UAB or whoever till last last game against Vandy or whoever for the last several years.

Of course there were those that were foolish enough to buy into the A&M victory as being second to a whipping of USC. That's U. of Southern Cal. not South Carolina.

That's what I really meant.

Not one item listed imo is unreasonable. What has been unreasonable is UT's A.D., UT's HC, & UT Fans ALLOWING UT to hit the rock bottom. It's been obvious for the last 7 plus years, yet there wasn't enough leadership to make some much needed changes.

My friends a slippage like that should NEVER be allowed at a program like UT!

yep, it can just be summed up in three words:

JUST GET BETTER!!!

Realvol, i hear what your saying about the a&m win, and by no means was that like beating a USC, TX, Mich, FSU etc....but it was a decisive win, and it was at a time when we really didn't know which direction we were headed in, after losing the qb's etc....

I for one, was very optimistic after that game...that game, they looked like exactly what your post said...crisp, energetic, dominating.

which is another reason why last year sucked so bad. Nothing we saw in that game, did we see again the following year...so i think all of us were a little fooled....

The bottom line is winning but what is all the hoopla about keeping stats?

Stats give a coach a guideline and or tendencies of his team and that of their opponents.

Stats are a pivotal part of the game, if they were not they would not keep them.

I am not so concerned about specific numbers from the QB position but I would like to see Arian get 1,400 yards in the regular season averaging over 4.0 per carry. If he can do that then the passing game should be opened up for the ole' dink & dunk.

Like most everyone else I just want to see wins. We can win a few ugly (like in 2004) and it won't bother me. I just want to see some fight in the team. My personal stat is 10 wins in the 12 game regular season. I could even live with 9 wins if we beat UGA, UF, Bama and S. Car.

QB - Just solidify ONE of them as a starter

RB - Foster to continue to improve

WR - It's a hand, the thing with four fingers and a thumb at the end of your arm. Use it.

Gator fans asking how they can improve? How about a coach that doesn't cry on camera....

Hey wait, what's with the crying and whining with UF coaches? What's in the water down there? Hormone replacement therapy?

A second RB who can come in and give Foster some rest without the offense missing a beat.

A QB that can get the ball to the receivers and receivers that can catch the ball and do somthing with it.

More tight end plays.

Something other than a draw play on 3rd and over 20.

Our LB's to step up.

A gifted kick returner.

Lots and lots of effort.

Coaches doing their job.

NO TURNOVERS at crucial times.
