Does gifted include holding on to the ball or is that fall under the category of 'the norm'?

Usually I would say the norm, but it falls under gifted right now.

I am not so concerned about specific numbers from the QB position but I would like to see Arian get 1,400 yards in the regular season averaging over 4.0 per carry. If he can do that then the passing game should be opened up for the ole' dink & dunk.

Like most everyone else I just want to see wins. We can win a few ugly (like in 2004) and it won't bother me. I just want to see some fight in the team. My personal stat is 10 wins in the 12 game regular season.
I could even live with 9
wins if we beat UGA, UF, Bama and S. Car.
If we beat those teams then who except LSU is there to beat us?

LSU, Cal (maybe), at Arkansas, or another fluke upset by a team we should crush (like Vandy in '05). IMO Florida will be our toughest home game and UGA will be the big road test.

just talking w/l's here, i'd love us to start off with a win against Cal....really need the confidence boost to start off strong against a somewhat "big" time opponent. And you know the coaching staff has to be thinking the same thing....no way in hell they want to start off wth a loss....i look for that game to be "explosive" one way or the other.

Don't know that we can be UF next season? they should be pretty darn good. However, i think UGA, Bama are definitely winnable. USC should be as well. LSU will be tough, they didn't lose much from this past season, and i can't see them having as difficult of a time this season as last (no off weeks, hurricanes etc...).

I think, truthfully, we'll probably lose to LSU, Florida and one other....not sure who it will be, but that Ark. game won't be easy. they always play us tough, and i think they might make some noise in the West next season to boot.

But as it stands now, LSU and Florida are the only two teams on our schedule that i will just say should be flat out better than us next season.

just get back to UT football.

Run the ball down their thoats.
Catch the ball.
More play action.

things that always need improvement in my mind are tackling, stopping teams on 3rd down and pass defense.

let's not forget penalties either...got to reduce those too.

As has been said many times before. Stats are for losers.

I want to see UT win against the teams we SHOULD beat by COMFORTABLE margins.

I want to see DEFINITE improvement! That means not having to DIG for some obscure stat showing MINOR improvement.

I want to see our offense EXPAND beyond the same old PREDICTABLE 8 play selections now offered.

I want to see our Coaches USE ALL the outstanding talented speed UT has in the barn.

I want to see UT's Offense DICTATE their scheme. No more wimpy "we'll take what they give us" b.s.

I want to see a WELL PREPARED OFFENSE play with authority, know what they are doing & play balls to the wall 100% of the game.

I want to see UNQUESTIONABLE overall game to game improvement.

I want to see a well DISPLICINED team (o & d) show up every game.

I want to see a Head Coach display some REAL LEADERSHIP & ACCOUNTABILITY! No more lame hand clapping and it's always someone elses fault b.s.

I never want to see UT have a STAGNANT, REGRESSIVE, UNIMAGITIVE, SLOW & LAZY Football Staff again.

I understand UT's not going to win every game, but I cannot accept UT being outcoached!!!

Sorry for the echo. But it's that simple!

> UT has the talent.
> UT has the facilities.
> UT has the fanbase.
> UT has the exposure.
> UT has the stadium.
> UT has the radio network.
> UT has the resources.
> UT has the tradition.
> UT has the league involvement.
> UT has (usually) the non-conference schedule.
To go ALL the WAY every year! Last year was THE GRAND opportunity.

>>>>PLAIN & SIMPLE, UT DID NOT HAVE THE COACHES<<<<

This year is solely up to Coach Phillip Fulmer to dictate his future, along w the future of UT Football & the direction 106,000 UT Fans will go in.

I for one will NOT accept anything less than MAJOR IMPROVEMENT! By that I don't mean going to some silly positive stat movement & saying UT's blah, blah, blah has improved .0079%.

My friends that is NOT what I'm talking about!

Is a start in the right direction a 9 win season and competing in the East or does it go further?

I've been saying 10 wins because we we have a 12 game season when you add the Air Force game, which for some reason is still not on the VN schedule (hint hint). As stated earlier, I will be okay with 9 out of 12 if we beat all our division rivals and Bama. With the 12th game, which is really a give-me game, a 9-win season is basically the same as going 8-3 in an 11-game season. I don't think the "fire Fulmer" crowd is muzzled with three regular season losses.

i don't either, but like i said before, it's not just the losses, but who you lose to. If we lose to UGA, UF, Bama AGAIN, then, people will still be out for his head.....I think we need to beat at least UGA or UF next season....

As i said earlier in this thread, i think we will lose to LSU and UF, and one other team. that one other team could be Cal, or Ark, and i don't think it would be so bad as losing to USC or Bama.

but either way, 8 wins wouldn't be terrible, but to start talking about UT being "back" in form ,you'd have to start that discussion at 9 wins or more.

Hey, IF UT can't beat UGA next year, it's time to hang it up. UGA loses a lot (as they did this year) but at this juncture it is a question of coaching staffs & scheme. I believe UM at uf has laid the groundwork (assuming UM continues to improve & adjust his coaching style) to become King of the East. I HATE to say it but he substantially improved his coaching style during the season & for certain will be loaded w talent in 06. Of course, SOS is at SC. Well what can you say, he practically owns PF. With talent or without.

My friends that's not even looking at the SECW. Namely LSU, Auburn, AL & an up & coming Ole Miss.

ANY SIGN of UT's Staff, players, squads being lazy, slow, regressive or even stagnant WILL NOT be a good thing!

Thank goodness the ONLY quality win UT had this season was involving a very GREEN LSU Coach that in my opinion was clueless about SEC competition. Not to mention all the woes his team experienced with Hurricane Kitrina. That situation will not be the case in 2006.

Realvol...calm down brother...it wont' be time to hang anything up, and i wouldn't exactly call Ole Miss up anc coming. there's only one team in the West that they may be better than, and that's thier neighbor in Starkville.

we'll be alright next year, but you are right about UF, they do look to be stocking up for the next few years....i'll be suprised if they are not a true NC contender by next year AT LEAST, and should the pcs fall in this year, they may sneak up on someone....

I understand...but Ole Miss is having a good year recruiting & if it weren't for a couple big breaks vs us last year, who knows. They like SC had very little talent & lacked a decent qb. UGA has a good Coach weather we want to admit it or not, UM I believe will improve & SOS has proven he can outcoach Fulmer year in & year out. Again that's just the SECE.

I am very apprehensive about this "new" staff advancing UT to move up to where UT SHOULD be.

Time or should I say Coaching will tell.

RealVol, I'm not a big CPF fan, but I'm a little more optimistic, especially for 2006. If we just split the big four games and beat the creampuffs we're 10-2 going to a good bowl! Keep the faith.

i think a lot of people are apprehensive. And for good reason. we have nothing to be truly excited about, except to hope that the answers to the questions we all know exist are answered in a positive fashion. Nothing has been tried and tested yet.

Even though i think we will win 9 games next season, i know that just as easily, should a few things not happen, we could be 6-6 or 7-5, and headed in to another season of "W T F!!!!!"

and just as you describe the breaks against ole miss, we had a few of those breaks go against us as well in some games....and if you take those into account for us, as with Ole Miss, then you can also say "who knows" in regards to our season had we not fumbled twice inside the 10 against Bama, had we not thrown that int against Vandy, not given up one big play against ND etc, etc, etc....it's all relative. If we can just reduce the errors that we made in 05, whether it be penalties, turnovers, dropped balls etc....that's worth at least 3 more w's. So who knows?

Thanks for the response. All I basically want to see is our outstanding talent allowed to play at max speed. discipline, aggression, heart, well prepared & executing a great game plan!

same here...and i think we have the talent already there to do so. the rest is like what everyone has been saying...can we coach 'em up to do it on the feild? hope so.

Just win! :clapping: How about an SEC Championship and at least a top 5 ranking in the NCAA for 2006! How about at least an 11-1 record? That's before the bowl game. :dance2: :clapping:
