A good job

What would Coach Jumper do...

He would start a real thread on the table for the true vol fans and create a second one like this for the immature bullies so they will have their own page just like the grown-ups

BTw... Heading to East GA to see my daughter in college... probably won't be able to hit this site much. but i will reply to as many as asks on Sunday. . . not to say anyone will ask me something, but, JIC

++++++++++++

To the present LV team and coaches...

I am tough on you because it is demanded that excellence is produced at this university and most sincerely expected out of the women's BB team.

Girls, put your emotions and attitudes in check, at the house and come to the court, ready to produce. Play with confidence. Take those shots, "Knowing" they're going in , not "wondering" if... Move on offense, even bad movement is better than standing around.

Coaches, these are still kids out there. 6 foot emotional roller-coasters. Be the leader that they need. They can perform, but only if you create an environment where they can.

Win,Lady Vols,,,
Win against everything I say and everything that is being said..

It Is Time to Perform>>> Coach Jumper

So, are you the former poster jyrevols?

I just ask because I heard Hart is now debating whether to hire you or jyrevol as the next LV head coach. If you are the same, it would make his task much easier.

This team reeks of the Utah Jazz, peppered with "showtime"

Malone: Graves running a point-forward spotat the elbow, with stationary set-plays going through her when possible.

Stockton: Carter, Middleton, Jackson Running the givengo and screen roll to perfection and becoming great shooters so defs. have to respect your shot too.

Hornecek: Spotup: Dunbar,DD, Cooper

Magic and Kareem = DD and Russel.(Russell develop a jumphook that goes vertical on the ball-lift so it is faster in completion of the move and shot at the peak of her jump) Give DD this type of environment..and she will flourish.

Practice; Run "Shootathon" so the girls can take 1,000 shots in only 30 minutes... Yes, it can be done. in increments of 10 3-minute runs of the drill... 1,000 shots taken, inside or outside of the arc in under 3 minutes.. give these kids drills like this so they can shoot till their hearts are content and their reps reinforce muscle memory and their mechanics get better. and they can consistently get their shot off in under 3/4 of a second... Drills like my shootathon could immediately influence this team.so would 7-direction layups, contact-drives, flight-school....

I know I mouth off a lot, but it is with the humility that I know that I am not The panacea when it comes to coaching...Nor am I intimidated. I am at the hard to reach plateau where you hit dead-center of confidence and cocky as a coach.

Oh and i would move towards defense with my 3-1-1 read and react defense. 3 players, one step back off the HC line (And dare them to cross center court before the ball crosses the court. and two stacked at the top of the key and middle-paint. going into a man-pick-up only after they pass half court on the bring-downs.

So the lady vols are a combination of the best players from the Jazz and the lakers including three of the greatest NBA players of all time..... Sweet, we make a run after all.

I've got 5 Intramural girls titles, 1 runner up finish, and lost only 2 games in 6 seasons...I guess that makes me an elite coach too

Absolutely it does! You are totally qualified to take over the LVs program, no questions ask and heck, really the Los Angeles Lakers, given your coaching background. I am sure you can have them trumping Golden State next season

On my side, I coached my sons U8 to U10 soccer teams. In that three year run, we won three tournament titles (plus two runner-up finishes) and we finished first in our division twice. Two of my athletes are now playing collegiality (albeit only one in soccer, my son, and the other in track -- so perhaps I am also an elite track coach as well).

But given my soccer coaching credentials, I am simply stunned that Manchester United has not yet offered me the head manager job given the struggles they have had this season. Trust me, I would know how to get Wayne Rooney in shape; he just needs an alpha male role model! I would also employ my innovative and indeed patented strategy of fielding 6 strikers and 5 attacking midfielders; that's right, no defenders and no goalie. Those are wasted positions if you keep the ball all the time, which my teams would do because alpha coaching....

Remember at the beginning of the season Holly was talking about the LVs watching a lot of Celtic games for the passing ability? What happened with that I wonder.

I can only guess that the players didn't buy into what Holly was trying to sell them. Because their passing is dreadful. Of all the teams in the NBA why in the world did she choose an 80's Celtic team? Holly is stuck in the past and can't move forward because she doesn't have the know how or skill level to teach/coach her team. She's just not head coach material and it shows.

Yep. In the 1980's NBA, zone defenses were illegal and so it was a lot easier to find openings with rapid ball movement. In todays' game, when teams have success with this approach--3 to 4 passes leading to a wide open lay-up--it is usually linked to a defensive breakdown. So, the LVs have had some moments like this and the announcers go "yes, great ball movement, that is what the LVs should do more of'. But the problem is that good teams adjust and don't miss assignments on a regular basis. So, the Holly's strategy leads to 90% of the time, the ball being stuck circulating around the perimeter leading to a forced passed in the paint (and often a turnover) or a panic shot as the clock expires. One in ten plays can look good on a highlight reel but they don't win many games.

Boys, enjoy yourselves. At the risk of maturing, just be happy. and play in this little playground. Swings are in the back.

I care enough about my Lady Vols to do the obvious, be a fan, and the not so obvious, trying to push some buttons so someone will get the message that there is something missing,

Alpha's aren't those above are being. That's just bullying. Alpha's win with brains, brawn and work-ethic..., Kind like the traits you would want in any athlete..

But I won't waist 34 years of wisdom on boys and playground scenarios.... Enjoy yourselves,

Coach Jumper

Jyrevol-Jumper, Dude, I LOVE YOU! You have brought a much needed source of levity to an otherwise depressing season and an often fractious board.

I totally get it. You're espousing megalomaniac delusions of grandeur as a kind of performance art. BRIlLLIANT! No make that TRUMPtastic!:clapping:

For someone who professes to understand women athletes, I find it pretty comical that you address posters on this particular forum as "boys."

Although I do thank you for not addressing us as "girls."

(edit to add: I know that we have both men and women posting here)

I actually agree a lot with what you say in terms of the type of coaching highly skilled women athletes need. The growing shameless "hire me! hire me!" --not so much.

Hope your trip goes well, and that you're available to answer all these pressing questions. :wink2:

Meanwhile to other members here, isn't there someone whose daughters play/ play hoops around here that recognize the photo avatar? Curious about that.

Is there a way to make the avi larger - so we can see it better ? For all I know it looks like Ken Howard of the White Shadow tv show from the 80s
