Question: more painful loss

2007 against Ohio State or 2000 against UNC ?

We had UNC beat, and blew our chance at the Elite 8, that was a miserable lost.

2007 was more painful because we had a Memphis team we had beat earlier in the year waiting for us to get to the Final Four. That team that lost to UNC wasn't going anywhere with Green coaching.

The Louisville 2008 loss sucked as well, that team was horrible mismatched and refused to show up.

In retrospect, the Ohio State loss. If we held on against UNC, who knows what would've happened with the coaching situation because I think we would've beaten Tulsa. However, the Ohio State one sucked because, unlike the UNC game, we didn't lose because we panicked, we just played like crap for about 12 minutes. The Buckeyes tied the game at about 7 or so minutes, then we played straight up for the stretch. The UNC collapse was just pitiful to watch as the meltdown you knew was coming, happened, complete with Tony Harris shooting 1-20, or whatever.

Forget the Elite 8, we blew our chances at a Final 4. 1 seed Stanford, 2 sedd Cincinati, and 3 seed Ohio State all got put out in the 2nd round practically paving the road for us to make our first Final 4. But of course we choke in the Sweet 16. This year is shaping up pretty well, but still that was hands down the easiest path UT has ever had to a Final 4 and we didn't capitalize on it. Also, we would have drew Florida in the National Semis, a team we swept that year.

I remember being absolutley disgusted with the way things played out that year and the opportunity we miss out on.

Yes they had Conley and Oden that year....I'd say the loss to UNC is still worse, but not by much.

I remember that game against Ohio St. I was in Memphis celebrating my 18th birthday, we went to Graceland, and alot of other places. But we went to our hotel room and I watched the second half of the game. That was definately a painful loss, because I think we would definately go to the final four and maybe quite possibly go to the NC and play the gators. Hopefully this years team will make us forget about those past painful defeats and gets past the sweet 16.
