There are only three Top 25 match-ups this week, but still several interesting games to catch.
Thursday:
Friday:
Saturday:
Don't know if you noticed, but there's not a single Power 5 cross-conference game all weekend. We are deep into conference schedules, and the few out-of-conference games at this point are against cupcakes (like #17 Louisville vs Murray State, or #25 LSU hosting Troy).
Interestingly, almost half of the Big 12 has this weekend off, including #3 Oklahoma, #9 TCU, and #23 West Virginia. Add #8 Michigan and #20 Utah to the "idle" list, and a fifth of the Top 25 are taking a break this week.
What are you watching? See any good matches I missed?
[all times are Eastern]
Thursday:
- 8:00 - Texas at Iowa State (ESPN) - Tom Herman's first Longhorn win vs a Power 5 team? Maybe?
Friday:
- 7:00 - #14 Miami visits Duke (ESPN) - Duke is unranked, but 4-0. Maybe Cut can carve Richt right up
- 9:30 - #5 USC goes to #16 Wash. State (ESPN) - goodbye to the Top 25 for the Cougars, probably...Upset?
Saturday:
- 12:00 - #21 Florida hosts Vandy (ESPN) - would love to see the 'Dores upset the Gators...serves us
- 12:00 - North Carolina visits Ga Tech (ESPN-2) - both unranked, but still an interesting game to me
- 12:00 - #10 Wisconsin vs Northwestern (B10-N) - upset alert, maybe...nah, prolly not
- 3:30 - Volunteers host #7 UGa (CBS) - fingers crossed our lads come to play, pull off the upset
- 6:00 - #24 Mississippi State visits #13 Auburn (ESPN) - semi-important SEC-West match
- 7:30 - A&M hosts USCe (SEC-N) - only interesting because East vs West
- 8:00 - #2 Clemson visits #12 Virginia Tech (ABC) - best non-SEC game of the weekend, right here
- 9:00 - #1 Bama hosts a much-depleted Ole Miss (ESPN) - prolly not the key match that ESPN anticipated
