New Zeal: SWP off to Egypt

The U.S. Socialist Workers Party is sending cadre fresh from the battlefields of Madison, Wisconsin, to Cairo, to peddle Marxist literature to the Egyptian masses.

From the Militant:

“I just returned from Madison, Wisconsin, this past weekend, meeting and talking to working people involved in the fight there, introducing them to the Militant,” said Dan Fein, a worker at a pharmaceutical plant in New York. “Soon, I’ll be doing the same thing in Cairo.”

Fein is part of a team of socialist workers from the United States, Canada, and United Kingdom who will travel to Egypt to participate in the Tahrir Book Fair, March 31 through April 3. Paul Mailhot, editor of the Militant, is organizing the team, which will sell subscriptions to the paper, as well as books and pamphlets published by Pathfinder Press.

Hosted by American University in Cairo, the fair was “born from the joy of the Tahrir Square revolution,” ......

Oh no Socialism.

At least you could have mentioned that women in Egypt are being taken and subjected to virginity tests.

Even the NY Slimes is now saying the Moslem Brotherhood is poised to take control of Egypt.

RubinReports: Egypt's Revolution Plus U.S. Government Mistakes Makes Israel-Hamas War Inevitable

The Mubarak government did not maintain sanctions and an (imperfect) blockade of weapons' shipments out of concern for Israel.

No. It did so because the Egyptian government saw revolutionary Islamism as the main threat to the country and to itself. This was not, as current U.S. officials claim, some cynically manipulated mirage to justify dictatorship.

Rather, it was a very logical policy.

....... the Obama Administration is not just rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic; it's enlarging the hole below the ship's water-line, arguing that by doing so it is moderating the ocean.

I hadn't noticed what you were referring to until later and even then I only saw it reported by the guardian which is a well known marxist/communist mouthpiece in England.

Until someone else reports it I am taking that with a grain of salt allthough there certainly is no shortage of crazy things that happen in that area.

I wondered, what happened if they weren't virgin, or if they were virgin before the virginity test were they still virgins afterwards. Inquiring minds you know.

One thing Mubarak did was ban female genital mutilation although it was still practiced.

Egypt's reformer

If you want to know about Mubarak the above link is a MUST READ.

Any way you want to cut it, Mubarak was BY FAR THE BEST leader in the mideast (other than in Israel).

The New York Times’ story today lays out the details of what many of us have suspected was going on from the beginning:

“CAIRO — In post-revolutionary Egypt, where hope and confusion collide in the daily struggle to build a new nation, religion has emerged as a powerful political force, following an uprising that was based on secular ideals.

The Muslim Brotherhood, an Islamist group once banned by the state, is at the forefront, transformed into a tacit partner with the military government that many fear will thwart fundamental changes…”

The MB is responsible for the birth of virtually every international terror-sponsoring organization currently in operation.

So, how could no one in our hallowed halls of power have foreseen within the Egyptian revolt this re-birth of the movement that will push for the re-instatement of a global caliphate?

Remember when top officials in the Obama administration told us the mb was a secular organization??

That raises the question; were they so ignorant or were they lying for as yet unknown reasons?

Either way it sure doesn't lead one to put much confidence in the Obama regime.

Egypt's ruling military council last week appointed a committee to amend the Egyptian constitution. The new committee consists of eight members, including Sobhi Saleh, a lawyer and a senior member of the Muslim Brotherhood.

The Brotherhood seeks to establish Islamic law in Egypt. Both Hamas and al-Qaida are violent offshoots of the Muslim Brotherhood.
------------------------------------

The source said the Christian community pointed out that the official Muslim Brotherhood charter, amended in 2007, calls for the imposition of Islamic law in Egypt.

Among other things, the charter, obtained by WND, states that non-Muslims cannot hold government positions and must pay to the state the jizya, or special Islamic protection tax.
-----------------------------------

Both Egyptian and Israeli security officials said the group, Al-Gama'a al-Islamiyya, is being reconstituted at the direction of the Muslim Brotherhood.

The officials affirmed Al-Gama'a al-Islamiyya serves as the de facto "military" wing of the Brotherhood, which originally founded the group.

Al-Gama'a al-Islamiyya is suspected of involvement in the 1981 assassination of Egyptian president Anwar Sadat, and it took credit for the 1995 attempted killing of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak. It has carried out scores of deadly terrorist attacks, some targeting foreign tourists.
-----------------------------

Al-Gama'a al-Islamiyya is classified as a terrorist group by the U.S., European Union and Egypt. Like the Muslim Brotherhood, the group was dedicated to the overthrow of Mubarak, seeking to replace his regime with an Islamic state.

The group has carried out numerous deadly attacks.

The group's leader has talked publicly about collaborating in planning the murder of Anwar Sadat with the Egyptian Islamic Jihad, which was blamed for the killing.

In the late 1980s and 1990s, Al-Gama'a al-Islamiyya carried out scores of terrorist acts in Egypt, including the murders and attempted murders of prominent Egyptian writers and intellectuals. The group also targeted tourists and foreigners.

In 1997, it carried out the notorious Luxor massacre in Luxor, Egypt, killing 58 foreign tourists and four Egyptians. Al-Gama'a al-Islamiyya went on a shooting rampage in that attack, even reportedly mutilating the bodies of victims. A note praising Islam was found inside one disemboweled body.

One year earlier, in 1996, Al-Gama'a al-Islamiyya carried out a shooting rampage at the Europa Hotel in Cairo, killing 18 Greek tourists.

In 1995, the group took responsibility for a car bomb attack on the Egyptian embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan, murdering 16 people.
---------------------------------------

Prominent U.S. commentators also have been claiming the Muslim Brotherhood is a moderate organization and denying any Islamist plot to seize power.

In November, the Brotherhood's new supreme guide, Muhammad Badi, delivered a sermon entitled, "How Islam Confronts the Oppression and Tyranny."
------------------------------------

Badi went on to declare the U.S. is easy to defeat through violence, since it is "experiencing the beginning of its end and is heading toward its demise."

Those who promote islam and it's drive to conquer the world have no problem using violence but they also are conducting an economic war on every country not considered to be an islamic state wholly under the rule of islamic sharia law.

That was the motivating factor behind the slaughter of tourists in that they hoped to put economic pressure on the Mubarak government by eliminating the tourist dollars flowing into Egypt.

The new Egypt will now renew ties with the Iranian theocracy or thugocracy if you prefer.
