Why do we have the high attrition on the team? The KNS stated that we had lost 4 more players to transfer, total number of players that have left is 12 over the past 2 years. Are there issues with the coach, or what?

I can tell you the problem. The players can't stand the coach. There is a local volleyball club in Knoxville (K2) that has a TON of top level talent. They have had a HUGE falling out with the UT volleyball staff and no players from there will even visit the school. Players who have left actually TOLD recruits "don't come here". It's REALLY bad.

I am pretty active in volleyball in the club world and have some really good friends in the K2 program. They don't pain a flattering picture at all. Sad because I would love to see that program do well again.

Do we say "Thank you, Dave Hart", or is this still a holdover from the Mike Hamilton 'era'?

This.

Virtually ever good player we had on the team (four players) left the team at the same time a couple years ago. Robinson, Baker, Pollmiller and the girl from Arizona whose name I can't recall right now. What's more startling is that many of them are transferring to elite programs (i.e. Nebraska, Texas, USC). And yet there are many that bury their head in the sand over the issue. If basically all your talent leaving at once isn't enough to wake some people up, I'm not sure what is.

I think that attrition is probably higher in Volleyball than other sports, but if they are leaving to play elsewhere, vs. deciding that collegiate sports are not for them..................... something may be wrong.

I appreciate the insight from the previous posters that are MUCH more involved than I am.

Lets keep this line of questioning OPEN. If Mr. Hart is reading, what do you think????
Maybe you should check into it.

"Athletic directors provide guidance and direction for a schoolÂ’s sports program."

Hamilton replaced Doug Dickey in 2003, Mike Hamilton (2003–2011); Joan Cronan (2011); Dave Hart, Jr. (2011– ).

Phillip Fulmer: head coach of the Tennessee Volunteers football team from 1992 to 2008, 17 years, fired

Rod Delmonico: head coach of the Tennessee Volunteers baseball team from 1990 until 2007, 18 years, fired

J.J. Clark: head coach of the Tennessee Volunteers track team (Director of Track and Field at the University of Tennessee, women/men...) from 2002 until 2014, 13 years, fired

Bruce Pearl: everybody has an opinion on this one, fired

Derrick Dooley: everybody seems to agree on this one, fired

Just sounds like the volleyball program needs some guidance and direction.

If Volleyball was a income producing sport, this would have been addressed with more urgency by now. Hart is trying to rebuild a depleted reserve fund. Under those circumstances, they will only replace a non revenue coach if his or her actions bring bad attention to the university or if the program going under causes title IX problems. Whenever his or her contract comes up for renewal and if this trend continues, that is when a change might occur.

If the fan base showed more interest, and attendance number were to grow for the Volleyball games, it might cause the AD to question this player exodus more closely. Until then, it will remain a lower priority.

Entirely accurate. All non revenue sports are treated this way, and its normal. No changes made regarding player issues etc. If/when the criticism does get loud there will be a statement, or an interview. Or even a private warning from Mr. Hart " time for an SEC championship" etc. But it takes a lot for a coach to be in hot water.

The head coach is the problem....period....a change won't happen though as another poster has said until his contract is up

Lost their last 3 matches in straight sets, falling to powerhouses Northern Illinois, Iowa State and Omaha.

Maybe it's time for a new coach. Just sayin'. When you're driving off a lot of players AND you're not a good team, there's a problem.

Actually, I took the time to look at the coach's record here yesterday. It's been pretty strong--one final four appearance--far better than I would have thought. There is a pretty big line between being demanding and running off your best players; if the latter has been happening, there is a problem.

Extremely random question but does anyone know if there is any way possible to buy a Lady Vols volleyball jersey? I highly doubt that they sell them anywhere, I know I couldn't find one online anywhere, but I figured I'd ask in here as a long shot. My soon to be sister-in-law is actually turning into a fairly highly regarded recruit and I'm looking for a Xmas present for her. Last time I was over there she had a letter from the Gators and I need to squash that idea and get her thinking about UT.
