...is that Mike Hamilton would've already had Gruden hired and had him parading around on the recruiting trail.

As much as everyone hates MH, you know it's true.

MH pissed and moaned about Kiffin getting $3.325 million for his assistants. You think he'll be ok with Gruden's salary demands?

Hamilton liked to hire the mid-major, no name coaches like Pearl, Dooley and Martin. He hit a home run with Pearl. Laid an egg with Dooley. To early to tell with Martin.

I doubt he would have signed Gruden. He would have signed someone we never heard of.

Yeah, the guy that couldnt get a high quality coach and had to settle for a loser from the WAC was going to sign Gruden.

You don't do any research at all, do you? There's no comparison between Dooley and Pearl. Pearl was winning championships and upsetting high ranked opponents while coaching on a lower level. Dooley couldn't even hack it in the WAC. The two hires have nothing in common.

This makes as much sense as people people basing a candidate on W/L record only. Totally different situations btwn 2009 and now. But ok, discussion for another day with someone who can actually understand this.

I continue to be amazed at some of these comments.
