What's your job/job area? And what did you major in/study at school to get the job?

I'm a senior in HS so obviously still debating on what to go into. Just got accepted to UT yesterday so hopefully looking into a business major there!

Congrats on getting into UT! Just follow your heart and don't rush into a major. Take a couple of classes you think you'd be interested in majoring in and go from there! :)

Good luck!

Not trying to change your mind, but just offering some advice. If you plan on taking it all the way through to your MBA, then keep on trucking. However, business/business management is a common degree program these days, and the job market is flooded with laid off and unemployed managers with business degree's and
experience. It can be hard for you to compete for jobs coming out of college in four years. However, there are lots of specialized business degree's, so perhaps you find something like that.

Just some thoughts on what I am seeing out there these days. Good luck!

CPA, got a BS and MAcc in Accounting.

Even if you don't want to be an accountant, I'd recommend the degree if you truly want to go into business. You can do a lot of things with it.

Contracting officer of the acquisition management project office for the Javelin missile system. I graduated from UT with my BS in Business Mgt. I then went to UA for grad school and earned my MBA. If business is your interest, I would agree with others that you need to get a specific minor in order to be marketable when you graduate. Good luck and remember that you dont have to know what you want to do til about the third year of college, so you have some time.

I got my degree in Mechanical Engineering from UT and I now design aircraft structure.

So BearCat, do you have any contacts who hire designers?

One of my cloest friends from college has a degree in microbiology and is a pastor. Even less logical.

should have done it the other way around and then answered every question from the professor with "God did it."

(I'm only kidding people)

None that are personal or direct, but I could lead you in the right direction. The thing is, most of the engineering part of my world is contracted out to Raytheon and Lockheed.

BS Systems Engineering, MS Engineering Management.

Started out working some really cool Advanced R&D projects for DoD and DARPA. Now I work force protection programs supporting theater of operations. I am pleased with my choice and find the work I do rewarding. Would probably do it even if it didn't pay as much.

Die cast engineer, I design dies using Pro-engineer, Solidworks & Unigraphics.

I messed around with Pro-E and SolidWorks for my first job right out of school. SolidWorks is super intuitive and looks really cool.

SW was what i used at my 1st job, 2nd job had to learn Pro-E, but yankees took over our company and forced us to switch to UG, which turned out to be the most powerful software I've used yet.

UG is the standard at most aircraft companies now. I've never used it though.
