One of my first full time jobs out of high school was making innerspring mattresses for Kingsdown...sure helped make up my mind to go to college... our mattress now is honestly well past replacing...plenty of choices...copper infused...multiple layers of memory foam...hybrids with coils and foam. Any suggestions on best choices for medium firm?

I need to buy 2 mattresses so let me know when you get it figured out. I know several folks who recently went with the bed in a box style but I tend to think it’s due to the convenience of buying on line instead of going in person to the store

It doesn't have to be confusing. Just go to the store and lay on all of them and buy whichever one you like best. I bought a Tempur-pedic for that reason. 4 years later, no regrets. I love it. Expensive, but getting a good sleep and not being sore every day is important to me.

FYI we got the hybrid with coils and foam.

Purple, get a purple mattress and you can’t go wrong.
I second this. I went through the whole mattress shopping earlier this year and after buy a purple mattress pillow I bought the mattress and I get the best sleep I've had in years. The Purple Hybrid Premier 3 should fit the bill for a medium firm.

We roll with Stearns and Foster. My better half likes the pillow tops, which are fine except that you can't flip the mattress so those don't last as long.

Took advantage of having the day off and a big sale at a local mattress store...tried out several and finally took a chance on one that had a great price but also had everything we were looking for...its got a 120 day return policy so no problem if its not for us...my one concern is that its 13 inches thick and our current one is like 10 so we might need to buy new sheets...total price after 50% off and a 50 dollar code was 475 with tax...that's unbelievably cheap 20210705_165736.jpg

They do deliver.
Not anymore they don't. FedEx Ground drug mine to the front door and dropped the 165 pound behemoth at the bottom of the stairs. I managed to get it inside and set up by myself but kept thinking of all of the movies I've watched where someone gets murdered and the killer just picks the body up and throws it in the trunk, 165 pounds of dead weight is damn heavy especially shaped like a long duffle bag.

Gotta be honest, I despise the memory foam. Sucks for folks who are "hot natured". I don't care what kind of "cooling" design they hype, those things sleep hot. For me, it's akin to having a bad sunburn and trying to sleep. Wife, on the other hand, is cold natured and loves the damned things. Getting hard to find a regular mattress anymore. And on top of that they're obscenely priced and heavy as hell compared to the conventional mattresses. Nope. Not a fan.

I got a Casper and put a down mattress topper on it. My wife and I love it. She prefers foam and I prefer an innerspring, but this kind of combines the best of both with the support of foam but the plushness of down. And still less than most traditional mattresses

Thing that’s tough about the ratings is that a lot depends on personal preference and sleeping position. It’s nice to be able to go lay on mattresses. The bed in a box concept is nice because they let you try it out risk free, but could be a hassle.

Got our mattress...weighed right at 100 pounds in the box...I pushed it down the hallway instead of getting the dolly out...I was able to set it up by myself as no one else was home at the time...released a gas odor when first removed from plastic but it went away quickly...let it inflate for 10 full hours..it was at 11.5/13 first night...wife loved it and her sleep monitor showed that she slept better than she had in a long time...for me it's gonna take some time to get used to a memory foam hybrid..I've only ever had innerspring mattresses but I'm 99% sure we won't be returning it after the 120 day trial...great deal at under 500 with tax if it lasts 20210712_112023.jpg20210712_192309.jpg
