Then again, maybe she would.
Only 4 D1 coaches with 10+ years have done it, and John Wooden and Roy Williams are barely above the mark.

Doesn't mean she's incapable, just means history is against ANYONE doing it.

She already has.
If you think the women's game is as competitive as the men's game, I've got some real estate you might be interested in.

I agree. Not much else going on tonight. Only decent games are out in the Pac 10, UCLA-WSU and Washington-USC. Interesting to watch Arizona go down at Oregon State.

And I've got circles under my eyes. Coach Summitt doesn't need my or anybody elses support to validate what she has done for womens college basketball. I've got a question. Has anybody noticed how freakin accurate the ladies are on the free throw line? Why can't the guys shoot from the line like that? Maybe it has something to do with coaching. Maybe it's something else. But it is amazing.

Coach Summitt is a Great "Coach" bottom line. Theres more to becoming a Great Coach than being a man or woman, it s the time and dedication that this lady has given that truly makes her a Great Coach. Thats what made, as someone mentioned, Dean Smith a Great Coach."dedication"

IM a Vols fan period! The lack of respect for the Lady Vols bball team here really comes off as a downer. It wasn't long ago we pulled our butts off for Lady VOLs softball, and the Mens Baseball team gave a hella effort towards the NC.
I guess between mens BBall and football concludes UT Sports?

Free throws are a mental thing and women are much smarter than men , just ask my wife and any other woman you know.

I will also make this point one final time: CBS pays half a BILLION dollars for the rights to the men's tournament. Comparably, the women's tournament is on CABLE.
The women's NC game is actually on ESPN.

CBS is a cable network i think.... idk i know i pay for it here.

CBS is available on cable systems, but it is most definitely not a cable network.

I just don't understand why it irritates so many "Vol" fans to say that Pat Summit is the winningest D-I basketball coach of all time. Dean Smith has less of a problem with that statement than a lot of guys on this board do. I think we should be proud that someone affliated with UT Athletics has achieved such a great accomplishment, its just plain stupid for "Vol" fans to want to degrade the accomplishment of one of our own.

Not degrading her accomplishments. Simply putting them in proper context.

Cute comment. However, the women DO use a smaller ball.

Not in the ESPN sponsored dunk and shooting competitions- which is one of the reasons it's such a burn on the guys. The women not only are better shooters, but are using a different ball than they do in competition.

That was the point of the guy I was talking about who just couldn't handle hearing any praise for women's sports without feeling compelled to assert male superiority (an applied definition of misogyny).

I figure if Dean Smith says she outdid him on an equal playing field, then disagreeing is pretty pointless unless you're as good a coach as either one of them.

Please provide any quote where Dean Smith says the men's game and the women's game are "equal playing fields."

I attended the dunk and three point contests during the Final Four in '03. The ladies used the women's ball during their portion of the competition.

how about this, patt summit isnt even 53, she can pull a paterno coach for another 20 years and have 1500 wins to her credit.

oh and another thing about Pat Summit that makes her the best coach period

Every Lady Vol who has completed her eligibility at Tennessee has gotten their degree or is completing their degree requirements.

that means more to me personally then the 880 wins she surpassed.
