When does the NIT seeding start?

Do they do the NIT seeding the day after the NCAA tournament? Not really familiar with NIT. Is the seeding done the same? What are chances of us being a 1 or 2 seed in the NIT?

Unless we just have a major disaster, we will be in the tourney.

You mean a disaster like losing to Georgia on our home floor? We've still got 2 more losses to Vandy and UK coming, and would have to beat Miss. St. and USCjr to get to .500. I'm afraid today may well have knocked us out of the tourney if we don't win a couple games in Atlanta.

So Joe Lunardi has Vols a 6 seed and they lose and they r out. You guys obvious don't know much about NCAA tourney. Lunardi drops us below a 10 seed then u can worry.

n i t seeds the same day as ncaa. it is usually done an hour or so after the ncaa bids go out

They could very well wind up here. That strength of schedule won't be looked at as much as going 500 in a conference as woeful as this one this year.

The only team involved in today's game that has to worry about the NIT AT THIS MOMENT is Georgia. Not talking about further down the road, right now.

If something disastrous were to happen and we did make the NIT, we would be the #1 seed and lose the very first game because we would not play a single team ranked higher than us.

georgia is in the ncaa as of today. 18 wins with at least 2 more coming

NIT if we are lucky. This team has no identity. Steve Pearl plays too big of a role. And most importantly Bruce can't coach during the last 2 min of a game.

We are Toast.

I love the Vols and bleed orange, but I will gladly make a friendly wager with anyone that unless we win the SEC tourney, we aren't going to the NCAAs. I don't care what Lunardi says, a team that finishes the season below .500 in a pretty weak SEC after a 7-0 start is not getting there.

I really don't think we'll have to worry about it too much. We'll make the tourney assuming we dont lose all remaining games and end up losing first game of SEC tourney.

ESPN had UT @ #6 in the tournament before today's loss. I think UT will still get in.

I really hope 90% of this thread is sarcasim. If you seriously think UT is going to the NIT based on right now, epic failure. Just stop watching college basketball right now.

Assuming losses to VU and UK, we'd need to beat MSU and Diet USC, or win 1 or 2 games in the SECT to feel comfortable IMO.
