I was just thinking about Mike Leach and how he has Wash St in the top 10 when nothing was really expected from them this year. The guy overachieves and just wins. He was the guy I really wanted during the coaching search. Dont get me wrong, I think Pruitt was a good hire, but I cant help but wonder where we would be if the pirate was in Knoxville now.

Likely not getting defensive shutouts, but who needs a defense when you can play basketball on grass.

Their schedule and conference is hot garbage.

They are way over ranked.

I do not want Mike Leach representing THE University of TENNESSEE.

He will probably end up coaching one of the three clown colleges in Florida:

Miami, Florida, or Florida State

I suppose whether or he’d win at a higher tier SEC program is up for debate but I honestly can’t see how you can dislike the guy.

IMO, it’s refreshing to see a coach at that level that doesn’t take themselves so damn seriously.

Leach at a big time school where he has to deal with big money boosters would not be a good mix IMO. To paraphrase a comment I saw on another Vols forum, Leach is type of guy who could get rubbed the wrong way and quit the next day. There is a reason he has landed in places like Lubbock and Pullman.

I do think he's a good coach, but the "smaller" schools are more in his wheelhouse.

Really The Vols have a football coach. Who cares if Mike Leach gets another job. We do not want him.

He's in a P5 conference with WASH, USC, and Oregon..... If he keeps whoopin' their behinds, why would he want to leave?

He's already coached in the Big-12 at Tex. Tech.......would TCU want him if Patterson retires? Kansas State??

Where would he go in Big-10? Purdue--they would be a step down from Wash. State IMO...

Where would he fit in SEC? I could possibly see Mizzou go after him, but I think their coach is a pretty good coach....
Miss. State?

VTech in ACC?

I would rather have a team with a very strong Defense instead of an offensive wizard that generates a track meet masquerading as a FB game.
How long has it been since one of those type of teams actually WON a NC anyway? Clemson plays defense....
