+8 after nine. Looks like another stellar performance from the multi-million dollar teen.

She is dead set on playing the mens tour. That is her goal and the rest is history.

That's not really true. The LPGA in their infinite wisdom will not allow her to be a full fledged member and limits her appearances due to her age. I'd bet that once she is a full time member of the women's tour we'll see less of her in men's events.

She keeps this up and I may give her a run for the money. Well not really. I get into the cooler too much.

I was thinking the same thing. If that's what it takes to play on the PGA Tour, sign me up. I can probably put up comparable numbers.

I doubt it.

Me too . . . People don't realize how hard those courses are set up. I played a tour course from the back tees a couple of months ago and by the 10th hole I felt like I needed to weep between shots.

Big difference from the Gold tips. I was just kidding by the way. Not about the cooler but about the golf. :)

No doubt. To add to that, the average weekend golfer cheats like hell. Played with many guys that claimed they could shoot in the 90's or better, they seem not to understand that a mulligan here and a move the ball slightly a little here and there, is not really shooting 90.

When sponsors jump ship. As long as they're along for the ride, we'll see Wie ad nauseum.

The LPGA should change rules to allow her to play. But, my statement comes from a direct quote made to the AP in todays paper.
After questioned about these mens tournaments being marketing ploys, Wie replied "I guess being the only girl on the baseball team when I was 4 years old was a marketing plan-not" "It is what I want to do. Some people take it as, 'It's a marketing plan to make more money, blah, blah. But they don't realize its what I want to do and I enjoy it. You can't trade happiness for anything."

On top of that, you can tack on a stroke or two just for having to hole out all the putts.

Agreed . . . A lot of this is fueled by Nike. Personally, I've never understood what the big deal was with letting her play though. If the sponsor wants to have her play for the spectacle and draw fans . . . Why not?

Wie is for real. Don't forget she is beating tour players in every PGA event she's participated in.

She's finished 2nd and 5th in LPGA championship and 3rd in US Women's Open.

She's only 16 (17?)! She will make a PGA cut soon.

That's what people seem to forget. At her age, the fact that she has broken 80 on a PGA Tour setup is remarkable.

i know that it didn't turn out to be the case with Tiger, but the disturbing trend for over-athletically focused children is what i have dubbed "Todd Marinovich Syndrome"...it cant turn out as bad as Todd did, but she's fairly controlled in all aspects by her folks it seems....it could be a hard fall if, for some reason, she says "F U mom and dad"...really hope that doesnt happen, but to answer the forum topic, i agree with Jay Mariotti from Around the Horn, win a womens event and then come out with the guys...you aren't going to win until you learn HOW to win, no matter your talent..and the learning process is simpler on the LPGA

i don't know, in golf there seems to be something to it. See Colin Montgomerie, he gets so aggressive in going for the kill in majors, that it costs him....trying to twist the knife when you already have it in your opponents back, rather than just hold on. The extra punch is key in most sports, but I've learned from my thursday matches, it's better to get ahead and play conservatively, and make my opponent play aggressive to beat me, than it is to try and finish him off...as an earlier poster mentioned the cooler, the emptier the cooler is, the more likely i am to try and close the deal, and more likely to blow it as a result (i hereby exonerate the cooler or its contents of any part of the blame)

Jay Mariotti is a moron and therefore anything that spews from that trash can he calls a mouth should be disregarded immediately.

Wie has a wrist injury. Just saw the stats and her driving distance is down 25 yards. She obviously is being affected.

No offence GAVol but, barring her wrist injury, was this the cut she was going to make?
I don't doubt that one day she might have more success on the men's tour, but it just comes off as a bit of a farce.
Believe it or not, I'm a fan of hers and am rooting for her. I just think that she would be better off developing her game elsewhere at this point and time.

I won't argue that she probably had no shot at making the cut, just pointing out that there were circumstances.
