There used to be sites where you could share peoples libraries. Don't know how legal it is. If your trading or swapping and not selling I don't think it's illegal?

I've read on the internet that some people use torrents, you obtain these torrents at certain websites like isohunt.com or btjunkie.org

first you will have to install uTorrent.........at least that's what I read on the internet I wouldn't know personally

You'd be wrong, it is illegal even if you aren't selling

Don't do it. It's not worth it. They crack down hard on this now. Just use iTunes, etc and pay for it.

I know a buddy of mine gave be a couple of web sites for free gigs of music. Both were fake web sites according to my security.

My roommate got a warning from HBO for downloading True Blood (and blamed it on me herp derp). Another of my friends gets one like weekly... so TIFWIW. I personally don't do it very often and when I do, it's to sample the music. If I like it, I then buy it from iTunes or CD.

I have been dl music for free for a good ten years and never got caught. Torrents are the way to go. I can justify most of it because I have owned the cd of the artists at one time.

you can always use a program like audacity to record audio that your computer is playing.

Private torrent sites are the way to go. If you use any of the public sites, you are just asking to get a letter from your ISP. I know people who have been downloading all types of media from music to 360 games for years and have never had a problem. When you use any of the torrent sites that are public, your IP is clearly seen and it is easy for anyone looking to trace it back to you. FTR, most private torrent sites are "invite only" and you have to either know someone who is currently a member of the site, or wait to see when the site does a open registration, usually once to two times a year.

Back in the day I would use limewire, bearshare, and other sites, but your leaving a trail and out in the open in case someone is watching. But like Jtrain, I dont remember the last time I bought a cd or anyother music. I think I bought that "Touchdown Tennessee" single and that is about it.
