Pierce the southern blue
Proudly stands our Alma Mater,
Noble, grand, and true.

Thank you for letting this Maryville College Alumn frequent this site (and come to your parties) over the years. Although we won’t be in Appalachia this weekend, we will carry the fight to our opponent in Athens. I assure you little brother looks up to you and is cheering you on every step of the way. Let’s go do what no one else expects us to do and win this thing. I predict a big game from Bruuu

When I was a student at UT, (around 1977) one of my dorm friends was really into bluegrass music. We borrowed a car and drove to Maryville College and saw a delightful concert - Norman and Nancy Blake (we called him "the old possum"). Anyway, that is my only experience with Maryville College, but I got to admit - I go through there to get to the Smoky Mountains and when I drive by Maryville College, that fond memory "gets all over me" every time.

To Stay on topic "WGWTFA". The news out of Athens bodes well for the Vols. Apparently the backup RB is a freshman, and if we can confuse him on blocking schemes, could be a long day for Napoléon Dynamite.

Orange, garnet, float forever, ensign of our hill!

Go Scots. Fun fact: UT’s first ever victory and second ever football game took place at Maryville in 1892.

Edit: I never paid much attention to our football program when I was in school, but I check in from time to time. MC is currently 7-1 with our only loss 14-17 at Centre. We are blasting everyone else, average margin of victory 32.5 points. 😤

Brother. I appreciate the story. That means more than you’ll ever know. MC and Maryville in general is one of the most underrated spots in all of America, and I hope it stays that way. Basically halfway between Gatlinburg and Knoxville. And the feeling is mutual. I assure you my friend, UT and everything UT elicits miles and miles of memories for this humble fan and his family. Started out admiring the players, switched to the privilege of hanging with some, to now just pulling for their success in every way possible. Generational history now being passed on to the next generation. And I must say it feels great to show my kids a product they are confident in and excited about bc Lord knows where we’ve been.

Hail to thee our alma mater, hail to Maryville .. A SWEET A MOTHA ………. I digress lol

That’s awesome. You know when I first went there, we were still the fighting Scots. Unfortunately, PC police changed it to the Scots during my tenure.

Maryville was and is a special place. Both the town, and the college. I spent the first few years of my life just outside the city limits until my folks moved us. For one reason or another it still feels like home, on some level, even though the majority of my formative years were spent elsewhere.

I spent the first year of my college career at MC before moving on due to a change in career path/major, but that year was hands-down the best one of my college years. Outstanding people, stunning setting, and an amazing atmosphere. Some afternoons, I'd just drive up to the Foothills Parkway look back west towards town and marvel at the landscape for a bit as the sun set.
