Excellent opportunity for Leacock, Nimrod and Webb (and maybe others) to make an impression on the staff and fans going into the spring. Those three plus the 3 incoming freshmen and the portal addition will make for an interesting spring. And that’s not even figuring in Thornton and McCoy if they both return. Lots of talented options for the WR slots and the backup to Squirrel in the slot.Been waiting all season for a WR to step up and set themselves apart as the featured receiver and it has just never happened this season.
One last chance for someone to rise to the top against the Hawkeyes.
Admittedly, I’m tempted to write off last year’s trio but that would be stupid. Excited about the new guys but they’ll likely need time to get acquainted with the offense ala Leacock, Webb, and Nimrod.Excellent opportunity for Leacock, Nimrod and Webb (and maybe others) to make an impression on the staff and fans going into the spring. If Bru doesn't come back we will still be very good!If Bru comes back, we will be Very good. He plays like Juan Jennings, we need a dog in the receiver room
It’s tough to step into the SEC and play WR just out of HS if you’re not physically developed. Those DBs will knock you off your route and defeat your block…we really missed McCoy after his injury. Like Tillman, he could out physical the DBs and was a tremendous blocker. Both were much more than possession receivers but were definitely the guys you looked for on 3rd and 6-8 yards…Admittedly, I’m tempted to write off last year’s trio but that would be stupid. Agree 100%. But, think it's also a more complex issue. WR's didn't get separation like Hyatt. WR's didn't make a ton of contested 50/50 catches. But, there's also the art of getting open while not being the fastest guy on the field (Jennings, for example...Bru too). A good bit of this though I think also resides on the QB. Hooker had excellent touch/trajectory on his balls for WRs to high-point the ball. A good percentage of Joe's passes don't have much of an apex for WRs to run under and position themselves for the catch...those fastballs came right thru the catch zone...easier to catch a 50/50 ball in a body position/jump ball scenario. So, think it's been a mixed bag on the WRs and QB this season. Think we'll get right next year.Been waiting all season for a WR to step up and set themselves apart as the featured receiver and it has just never happened this season.

Everyone has different definitions of what it means to be a #1. When I hear that term I think of a 1st or 2nd round talent who is the subject of many discussions among our opponents. I’m not sure if even Bru is that guy.White, Thorton, Nimrod, Webb... None of these guys are #1 WR types. We need Bru to comeback or someone like Leacock, Mathews or the Tulane Transfer to be that guy
