Where does Kentucky rank for you as a football road trip?

Might be my #1 favorite trip of the Vols 7 annual opponents. Them or Alabama. Easy drive. Nice city (1 of only 2 in the whole state). Chill fans and atmosphere. Vols pretty much always win. Decent places to eat before and after the game. Only minus is the weather usually sucks because the game is almost always in November, but this year shouldn’t be that bad.

Every time you get close to the KY border, you hear Deliverance music.

Go VOLS

I know Vol fans usually take the road up I-75 to get to Lexington. But if you should find yourself in Nashville and venture up I-65 instead, this beauty is right across the border.

Last time that I went there was the 07 game and it was awesome (because of the game, not the environment). I sat surrounded by Kentucky fans right behind the Tennessee bench. Overall, their fans were pretty nice. They made some funny comments about my orange shirt doubling as a hunting shirt or something. I remember they were about to rush the field until we blocked Sieber’s kick. After we won one of their fans said “well that’s about what I expected to happen” and they walked away dejected.

It’s a small stadium. I think at that time it held like 55K or something like that. I kinda got the feel that football season for them is a “well might as well catch the game” vibe. Not the same as Rupp during basketball season.

I did a lot of work years ago in the London, Corbin, Harlan areas. At that time I figured 'You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive '. After years of reflection, I really appreciate that culture and love the music that sprang from there. I haven't been to Louisville, but I've heard good things about it. I've been to Lexington a couple of times and it seems like a great place.

Kentucky knows this is a loss. Fans will be rowdy in the first quarter, but when Milton scores on the first possession, I predict they won't be a factor after that

I've never been, but it seems nice.
Playing them this time of year is much better than that late November date we used to always get with them. Lexington gets cold after October. Keeneland is running right now and I love that place in the fall. Highly recommend checking it out.

Haven’t been to a game in Lexington since 2007. Their fans are some of the most arrogant, inbred pricks I’ve ever come across. Have been invited to come to the game there on multiple occasions since then and have turned all of them down. Won’t be back. I love beating them about as much as any opponent.

Not much of one. 5.7 miles really isn't a "Road Trip"
At least now the schedule allows Tennessee fans an opportunity to go to Keeneland.

Lexington is just fine, good food and good downtown area with bars. Usually cold but this weekend will be great weather.

Took a couple of trips up to Lexington in the 70s. Both times were cold as all get out. One game the bleachers where we were covered with ice. Add to that the losses, and I lost my appetite for making that trip. Back then it was the next to the last weekend of the season so it was later and far colder than it is now.

To add what amazed me most was how fast all the fans in blue left when the score was out of reach. By the time the game ended, there was their cheerleaders, band members and the folks in orange.

This is a tough call, but probably have to give the edge to visiting Walmart vs Kentucky, as you can purchase bait in Walmart

Lexington is easy to get to, parking is easy and it's easy to get out and the win is always easy. Not a great destination and not a great win to celebrate, and the stadium looks like it was built by Jim Walters Homes. But, it's still not a bad trip.

Its outstanding. Not a bad drive. When you walk in there in orange everyone knows you are the absolute alpha. Tiny stadium so not really a bad seat.

Would recommend. Always fun.

That's exactly how I feel. Now that the game is earlier in the year and the stadium's end zone seating is constructed, it isn't anywhere near as cold. The 1991 game was by far the coldest game I've ever been to, drastically colder than the Miracle at South Bend two weeks previous. The one good thing about the Kentucky game back then was my dad and I would go to the lounge/restaurant in the Hyatt at Rupp Arena and watch the Florida State at Florida game, which was always epic. Whereas the Kentucky basketball fans are smug, the Kentucky football fans are chill and a really nice bunch. Their stadium seemed like a dump in the '80s and '90s, but it's a really nice stadium now. But again, I have to really give kudos to the Kentucky fans, because not every fan base is that nice.
