I just found out that Tee Martin was a no-show to the Winnipeg Blue Bomber preseason camp. :( That grants him a suspension from the league. I know he was unhappy about his playing time last season, but now it seems he's out of football period? Anybody know what's up? Does he plan to make a try at Arena Football?

I hate trying to defend a guy with poor stats, but the situations he was put in would be tough for any new quarterback to a league. My understanding is that he came into last season as the Bombers backup with the understanding that he would eventually take the starters role. However, the starter got injured in the first game and Tee had to start games 2 thru 4. He did not play well, as I would expect so early in the season for a new player. The coach stated that Tee needed more time to gell with the new team and learn the canadian aspect of the game. The mounting pressure from the fans forced the coach shove Tee down to 3rd on the depth chart where he stayed the remainder of the season.

He's actually already played in NFL-Europe. The Steelers allocated a few years back and he led the Rhein Fire to the best record in the league. Almost pulled off a miracle comeback in the World Bowl, but lost 20-26. He threw for 280 yards in the World Bowl. In the fall, the Steelers cut him, the Eagles picked him up and put him on the practice squad... the following season the Raiders signed him... and after 2 seasons in Oakland he moved on to the CFL.

I think he has a better shot at getting back in the NFL by going the NFL europe route.

The difficult part is that most quarterbacks are allocated by NFL teams to get experience. There are a few players that play without being affiliated with the NFL, but not usually quarterbacks.

Tee's problem in the NFL was that he ran out of "options"... that is the number of times a player can be optioned to the practice squad, etc. His number of years in the NFL also bumped up his minimum pay and he is also eligible for the pension.

Tee has mentioned his desire to go into coaching. Either that or I would not be surprised to see him pop up in the AFL next spring.

Looks like Tee is now trying to break into the movies. There are reports that he is part of 65 former players involved in a movie that is currently being shot called "We Are Marshall". The movie tells the story of the Nov. 14, 1970 plane crash that killed 75 people, including 37 Marshall football players, five coaches and several of the most prominent citizens in Huntington.

Brock Berlin is playing in NFL Europe, if he can hold a job doing that for the Dolphins...Tee should be a shoe in for a spot.

In the NFL, Tee was making close to $500,000 per season. NFL-Europe doesn't hardly cover living expenses while in Germany.... especially if the player is not sponsored by an NFL team..... Arena football pays more than the CFL (most players get paid alot less than $100,000 per season), but only the marquee players get what Tee was making in the NFL..... so my thought is that he will probably make more shooting this movie than he would have made in the CFL. I think he made a business decision. My guess is that you'll see him try out for an NFL team this fall and then sign on with an Arena team next spring.

Most players are lucky to play 10 years in the NFL. He has had 6 years in the NFL. He probably realizes he has about 6 good years left, and trying to do as well as he can financially.

i don't think he ever caught on too well to the pro systems....plus minus that USC game he had, he wasn't the most accurate passer ever.

You can have all the heart QB smarts in the world, but in the bigs you gotta have the skills.

I always thought his problem was accuracy. He had everything else, arm strength, speed, etc. Same problem that had plagued the starter at Pittsburgh Kordell Stewart that Tee played behind most of his career.

In retrospect, Tee may have been unlucky at Pittsburgh. Cowher obviously liked Kordell Stewart, but he was one one of the worst QBs in the league for a few years.
