I'm looking for info about the football national championships TN has. Where would I find that, please?

What are you wanting to know?

What poll/picker had TN as the #1 team?

I see NC's listed for 98, 67, 51, 50, 40 and 38.

I know UPI and AP made selections.
But in some years TN was not #1 in those.
So which poll/picker had them as #1?

In 1939, Tennessee was unbeaten, untied & unscored on & didn't win the title! Unreal! We also should have won the AP title in '38. Polls were very different back then.
Kind of off the subject, but I've put together a point system for the All Time AP Top 10 & Top 20/25 since it started in 1936. The Top 10 teams of all time are:

1. Oklahoma
2, Notre Dame
3. Alabama
4. Ohio State
5. Michigan
6. USC
7. Texas
8. Nebraska
9. TENNESSEE
10. Florida State
(FSU replaced Penn State this year)

Could you break down how your point system works?

UTSPORTS.COM - University of Tennessee Athletics - Football

This site at UTsports.com lists the years we claim a national championship and the various selectors.

Iirc, we had legitimate claims in 1938 (though TCU was also undefeated), 1950 (one loss), and of course 1998. The 1940 and 1951 championships were legitimate, but it should be noted that championships were awarded before the bowl game in those days, and UT lost its bowl game in both of those years. The claim to the 1967 championship is Bama-esque, in my opinion.

No one has answered yet? Geez, it's two, 1951 and 1998.

If you do it the bama way, (it makes them look stupid, btw) surely we can 'find' 16 just to tick them off. :D

Yes. I thought it was TWO.
But someone insisted it was SIX.

And the Vols web site has SIX.

Inquiring minds just want to know.
