chris low's top 25 SEC players and where they ranked out of high school. Though Chris tries to spin it the opposite way it really is shocking how many of these guys came out of nowhere.

Even more interesting was the article about the dismissal of Patrick Patterson from Ole Miss. Wasn't he one we really coveted?

No doubt, there were several diamonds in the rough, makes you wonder who on our team will be a great in the next few years.

I think CDD is filling our needs early with some underrated guys. However, if all we target is diamonds in the rough, you end up with more turds than you do diamonds. That said we are in on some very good players.

Id say that the top prospects usually wait til late in the process. It would be nice if we had 1 or 2 already but its not time to panic yet.

If we come out and get 7-8 wins, we will be an attractive up and coming option. There is still going to be early playing time to offer at certain positions.

Lowe makes ESPN look incompetent when it comes to their prospect rankings.

They didn't even rank Powe anywhere? The guy was a 5-star by every other service out there including Rivals and Scout.

Didn't it take Powe three years to get in to Ole Miss?

For the record, Mark Ingram is not the best football player in the SEC. He is a good running back who runs behind a great offensive line in a great offensive scheme. Therefore, he puts of great numbers. But he is nowhere near the best football player in the SEC.

Shocking? Rivals, Scout & ESPN ratings and rankings are highly subjective projections of the future potential -- some evaluated extensively and some minimally. It's only natural that some players are overrated, some are underrated and some are totally overlooked.

Exactly. It's not shocking at all. It should be expected. In fact there should probably be more former 3* and 2*'s on that list than there actually are.

When you consider there are only approximately 300 total 4* and 5* prospects per year and over 5000 3* and 2* prospects per year.

Sheer numbers would lead one to believe that you would have well over half of the top players on these lists come from that 3* and 2* group.
