Hahaha... The best man at my wedding is an Alabama alum. His wife is an Ole Miss alum.

They both wound up with jobs in Charlotte.

Soon found other jobs in the SEC world **specifically** because they couldn't find coverage of SEC football in Charlotte.

Not sure about Tennessee football in particular, but I always go to the downtown Uno's to watch NFL games before heading over to BOA Stadium. You should definitely call in to the morning show on WFNZ. The producer on that show said that he's decided to be a UT fan just because he loves CLK.

Hey all,

I just transplanted to Charlotte, NC and I am trying to find out if there are any viewing locations for UT football.
Last year the viewing parties were at Hickory Tavern off Harris Blvd and then some other people would go to Picasso's off East Blvd. PM me with your email and I can keep you posted on when/where we're getting together. Also, if you're on facebook I'll add you to our group "Charlotte Vols". There's a get together next Thursday at the Gin Mill if you're interested...

I just registered to this board, mainly to reply to this. I'm from Knoxville and have been in Charlotte for 3 years. Anyone know of anything in the Ballantyne area? I drink (heavily) when watching UT games and Uptown is a little too far for me.

I feel you. I would go from 1 beer a day (ritual) to 3-4 during UT football----DURING THE PF ERA---hopefully I can slack off ----don't think LK will be sitting on leads and punting on 4th and 1 from and inside the 40.:furious3:

the alumni group used to go to the Fox & Hound in Ballantyne for the games, don't know why they switched it to Hickory Tavern off Harris. I'm glad they've moved it again the Dilworth Grill though, we met there for the UT/Memphis game 2 yrs ago when we were #1 & #2...that was a good time. Met Volwindy there too!

You're not going to have a large group like there will be at Dilworth, but the Hickory Tavern down there is great for games.

Same issue here. Except I'm in Northeast Charlotte (Concord)....and driving to a bar uptown, Ballantyne, etc., is never a good idea.

VolinConcord, we should start a Northeast chapter, and meet at Joe's Sports Bar on George Liles.

Charlotte sucked for SEC football games. I remember in '07 when my family came from Knoxville to watch the Kentucky game at my house only to find that the local cable station was showing NC State and Wake Forest. We drove all Saturday morning back to Knoxville to watch the game. I'm glad we did.

I remember having trouble finding that game too. Watched most of it in a bar b/c like you said another game was on, then watched the OTs from home since the other game had gone off. That's not typical though, usually you can get the UT games around here. I don't remember why there was an issue with that game... and for some reason I think the alumni association didn't meet that day because of it...eh, who knows?

Woohoo! More fans in the Charlotte area! We should all just have our own get together!

I am glad they switched to Dilworth, much closer than Hickory Tavern, went there last year for the Florida game, I didn't particularly care for that place.

I remember that too! I had to run out and get an adapter that hooked the TV up to my computer (found it streaming online) to watch the first half of it.

Last I heard was that Dilworth Grill was going to be the spot for UGA alum... Not that I care but that should make the 10/10 game that much more interesting.

It is unfortunately. Looks like they're going to split the downstairs; one side for the Vols, the other for the doggies. I heard they come out in force too, so we'll need plenty of back up!

I watch from home and have no problems except for last year's UK game and a few years ago with bama on CBS. They let the Maryland/Duke game run over. They had to interview the UM coach about their exciting win over the dookies. I missed maybe five minutes of the first quarter.

don't forget about the viewing parties...we need some back up to offset all the grown men barking and what-not...looks like UGA kicks off at 3:30 so let's not leave them any seats!!

TV Game Parties will be held at The Dilworth Neighborhood Grille in 2009. This is an experience unequalled in the Charlotte area. Come and join us...the events are free and fun! Join us every football game day for lots of fun and many choruses of Rocky Top!
Every Football TV Party has a halftime Volunteer Raffle. Everyone attending the Football TV Party may participate in a raffle to win super Tennessee Volunteer stuff.
The Dilworth Neighborhood Grille offers an excellent staff, plenty of free parking, and lots of affordable eats and drinks. ALL telecast UT games will be shown! Parties begin 30 minutes prior to kickoff. (Check local listings for times)

This week’s game:
Sept 5, 2009 vs. Western KY
Kickoff is at 12:30 so the party will begin at noon!
