10 years ago today America was attacked by radical extremists. Where were you when you learned that the World Trade Center had smoke pouring out of it?

I was at college about to walk into my first class of the day when a friend came up to me and told me that a small plane had collided with one of the towers. I left the campus after this and returned home. I listened to the radio on the drive home and while I was returning to my house another jumbo jet impacted second tower.

When I got home I sat there all day and watched the news coverage completely stunned at what had unfolded on that infamous morning.

-----EDIT-----

Never forget the sacrifice of those who lost their lives on this day. The victims and brave people who attempted to save them will never be forgotten.

Oddly enough, I was training the Emergency Shut Down Team at work. My mom called me and got the notification about the first plane while we were on the phone. Then she got the second notification (she worked for the government and got security alerts). We watched coverage and it was the first time I really understood "stunned silence".

Was in my office of a former job listening to Bob and Tom. They casually mentioned they were getting a report of a possible plan crashing in NYC. Soon thereafter the radio programming broke to national coverage.

I remembered that I had a portable 6 in tv in one of my storage units so I immediately turned it on but couldnt get reception because I was too far into the building. Took it to another area where many others were and when I turned it on one of the towers was beginning to smoke profusly. It wasnt that much later when on that small black and white tv I heard the CBS commentator say "and there goes the second tower" and it fell. You could hear various sniffles coming from people throughout the room. I got a call from my wife - "I cant work today. I have to go home". Couldnt blame her.

The next few days were eeiry. When you look into the sky you expect to see a plane or two now and then. Not those days. Just quiet.

Had just moved to San Diego for law school about 2 weeks prior. I woke up about 6:00am and checked our answering machine, which had a message from my roommate's crying mom that the WTC had been attacked by 2 planes. I turned on the tv and both towers were already hit. I went and woke up my roommate and we watched coverage all day. Called my family in Nashville to check on them. I can almost remember the entire day minute by minute of what I did. I lived close to the airport in SD and remember that evening how quiet the sky was with no planes in the air.

I was getting ready for school that morning. When I heard about it I was on the bus headed to the school. I was in 4th grade.

In Colorado at a meeting. We grabbed our rental car and headed cross country back to tn. We were fortunate. Norad was close so you couldn't get out of town, rent cars or get a room because hotels were overbooked.
It felt like it took a week to drive thru Kansas.

I was in 2nd grade. We had just came back in from gym class or something, and I happened to be the first student back in the class. When I got there, my teacher and I were the only two in the classroom and one of the janitors came in the room and told her to turn the TV on. When she did, everything just went quiet. I didn't fully understand what had happened, but I knew it was bad.

Later in the day, my teacher got a phone call. Apparently her brother was in NYC and he called her to tell her she was fine. I'm just amazed she was able to hold it all together for us when her brother could have been in danger.

Just got to work that morning and was sitting at my desk eating breakfast. Secretary told me about it and we started watching news coverage. When the second plane hit I knew shot would hit the fan. When the Pentagon got hit my reserve unit was put on standby. I still remember how beutiful that day was. Ex wife was meeting with the lawyer filing for divorce that morning also.

I was heading over to my buddy's house to help him do some work and the first plane hit just before I left the house. I had to stop at a parts house and was at the counter talking to the owner when the 2nd plane hit. I went on to my buddy's house but needless to say we didn't get much done that day.

Pulling into the parking lot at work. Took some info in that morning as best I could. Watched the news that night to get caught up.

Was sitting at home doing History (I was homeschooled at the time) and was reading about Pearl Harbor. Yes, Pearl Harbor.

I was at home that morning and was watching CNN shortly after they started coverage. I will never forget my feelings of sadness and anger when they zoomed-in to people jumping from the towers.

I'm watching MSNBC's recorded coverage of that day and it brings all those feelings back to the surface.

NEVER FORGET

I was in my dorm room on the 10th floor of North Carrick. I had a late morning astronomy class, but I had gotten up at about 7 or so to study and get a few other things done.

I had spent the majority of my time looking around espn.com trying to figure out if Gameday was going to Gainesville that weekend. I had tickets for the game in my hand and could not wait to go.

I never even flipped on the TV.

Finally, my roommate got out of his early class and called me to tell me to check the TV. He said he heard a plane had accidentally hit one of the Twin Towers. It wasn't more than 30 seconds after I flipped on channel 10 that the 2nd plane hit. I could only watch for about 5 minutes before I had to leave for class (we had our first quiz that day).

Went to the EPS building to see if Dr. Pegg was going to have class. I will never forget that man being somewhat annoyed when asked if we were having a full class that day... Finished my quiz, walked out of class and went back to N. Carrick and sat in front of the TV for pretty much the rest of the day.

I was at home in Johnson City, NY. Later that day at work, people were steadily streaming in from downstate. Not all were coming from the city. One guy somehow got out and drove straight to JC. He was covered in dust. He didn't go to his room for the first 10 or so hours he was there. Just sat in the lobby. I was more than happy to provide some company. It was really hard to watch dude dealing with everything that happened. Same goes for multiple people coming from the city. They just drove until they didn't feel like it anymore and stumbled in to the hotel lobby.

The sister hotel next door, and the hotel I worked at, housed the pilots that flew out of Binghamton Regional Airport. We would drive the vans up to the airfield and pick up/drop off the pilots all day. One of the pilots we housed that night was in the Air Force with one of the United 93 pilots, I believe. He ripped every fixture from the walls, had a full-on psychotic break and had to be restrained by the 3 owners, the two brothers who ran the hotel I worked at, and a maintenance guy.

My Dad was hosting this group at his place out in the country. One of the women there had a son-in-law who worked on the upper floors of one of the towers....

Panama City Florida with my wife and kids. They were 5, 3, and 8 months. I was on the beach with my brother in law when a guy came up and asked us if we had heard about the plane that hit the World Trade Center. We were nice, but kind of blew him off. Thought he was crazy at the time. I called up to the room and asked my wife to check the news and she started crying. The beach was pretty crowded, but as the news spread, it was like a ghost town.

I watched the fighter jets from Eglin AFB fly up and down the coast the rest of the week

I was in prison. They brought all of us in off of our details and locked everybody down. Watched it on TV the rest of the day as rumors about Marshall Law swirled. All I wanted was to be freed and to be put on the front line that day...

Was eating breakfast in Presidential Cafeteria, working on some Materials Science homework over waffles, scrambled eggs, and bacon. Skipped classes and watched coverage on TV the rest of the day.
