Where's the heart and intensity that we displayed two weeks ago?

It was as if this team had turned a corner against Georgia when we fell one play short from victory. Then we come back the next week and get program shifting win over South Carolina, which only further proved our suspicions of Tennessee's rise to competitive football! Then we come out and look defeated, scared, and lost against Alabama. I'll give that one to Bama because they're the most talented team in the country, and we really didn't appear to be a threat to them whatsoever.

However, I expected more out of team 117 tonight. I'm not saying I expected a win, but I expected to see some toughness and grit from our Vols with the opportunity of taking on a rather beatable top 10 opponent. We're overall a more talented team, but you wouldn't have known that based on tonight's performance.

Very disappointed in the lack of effort from the O-line, and the piss poor tackling that went on display from our defense. Do we have anybody outside of Cam Sutton that knows how to wrap up and make a tackle at the point of attack?

Josh Dobbs showed flashes of a star in the making, but he also made freshman mistakes. However, that's to be expected when you have a young QB making his first career start. Neal was a complete disappointment today, and Lane made him look like a fool every time he touched the ball. Moral of the story, Lane should be starting and ultimately getting more touches. He has better field vision, and is shifty with his cuts. Always finds that extra yard.

Outside of North and Pig, we have no WR's that play on a consistent basis. North is our best playmaker, and brings it every game, but we have to find somebody aside from him to step up and provide a reliable option for Dobbs! Or any Tennessee QB for that matter! Josh Smith manages to get open at least once every game, and he can't even make a simple catch. Even if it hits him right between the numbers.

I could go on and on, but I'll end it with this. We have some talent on this team, and we were more than capable of beating this Missouri team today, we just didn't want it. Tennessee did not even look like they wanted to be there tonight. Just like last Saturday, we got punched in the mouth, and we couldn't recover nor respond.

We can end on a high note, by winning these next three games, or we can fold just like we did tonight and cut this season short. I'm sure coach Jones is preaching to the seniors, "How do you want to be remembered at Tennessee?" Lets see how they respond next week. I know we have the heart, fire, and passion to carry us to victory over Auburn. But the question is, can we deep enough to find it? I'm anxious to find out. Go Vols!

I hear ya, but off topic, I noticed that thread about the Vols and politics was quickly moved or deleted, as well it should, this is sports, no politics, race etc.

I thought the team at least gave a better effort against Alabama. They came out and played hard the 2nd half in that game. They seemed to never get going tonight. Lets hope they continue to win at home and eventually learn how to win on the road or at least compete. I'm still behind this team no matter how disappointing it is to lose like this. Go VOLS......

In Neyland. They don't take it on the road.

I've noticed. Virtually every game we have played outside of Neyland this year, we have been completely blown out. That's why this team is unpredictable to me. We've looked like an East competitor at home with the exception of the South Alabama game, and then we come out on the road and get embarrassed each week. They should have plenty of motivation whether it be at home or away.

This team we watched tonight and the last 6 to 7 seasons is not the proud TN teams I grew up watching. They went back in to their old habits again tonight. They looked like they didn't want to be there. I seen players giving up and quiting all over the field. Missoui could see that and they never took their foot off the gas.

I can handle losing, but I am so sick of a once proud program fielding teams that quit. These guys recite the Maxims every game but they don't appear to believe them. How is that allowed? Bench the seniors...if they don't want to play, find someone who does.

I was at the game tonight and our section was PUMPED as was the team when they came out! My question is: Where the hell was the band? There was never any "Rocky Top" from what few good play that we had! I can see not bringing the whole band, but there wasn't even a PEP band!

Ask Dave Hart. It matters but he don't care.

New system, new coach, new feel, new year, new QB, so much new.

How many teams this year will face the same trials as team 117? Coming off of a forgettable Dooley/Kiffin Era, with the transitions come loss of recruit interest. Not many people would want the job Coach BUTch Jones claimed was his dream job. Not many people would want to face the daunting task of rebuilding this storied program, but Coach Jones YEARNED to. Inches make the champion, and sometimes those inches are hard earned.

Think of the players the next time you so quickly give up on our VOLS. Those boys love UT as much or more than any of us "armchair QBs" do. They need our support more than ever now. It's funny to think of oneself as a "fan". It's such a simple task, all you really have to do is support something in a positive way and you are a fan. But what does it take to be a TRUE fan? A TRUE fan sticks with their team through the hard times. A TRUE fan waits for better days. A TRUE fan sings ROCKY TOP in the good times and the bad.

I urge you to ask yourself are you a TRUE fan? Or are you just an armchair QB who loves moaning and groaning and thinking about what once was? We all remember 98! We all realize how good and proud our VOLS once were... But we are in a time of disrepair right now, and as true fans we need to stick by UT and hope and believe that Coach Jones knows what he is doing and will restore greatness to UT.

I leave you with GO VOLS, and may every hour you lose be another hour gained among loved ones.

You will see it come back Sat. These kids play at a different level when Neyland is rocking. Not saying we win but I won't be shocked one bit if we do.

i agree and it drives me crazy that we are so much better at home...guess that is what happens when you have young/inexperienced players at every position though
