The FIFA World Cup or the Olympics? (Feel free to argue either summer or winter)

Discuss.

I enjoy the Olympics more. Mainly because they are more frequent and have more things I enjoy watching. I guess this is mainly because I just can't get into soccer.

The World Cup destroys the winter olympics. It's about even with the summer o's, but I would watch the WC over it 10 times out of 10.

World Cup easily. I usually can't find myself getting up so early to watch Soccer/Football, but once World Cup fever hits you, it's a blast.

Go USA, even though they will lose again. :(

It's world cup all the way for me.

Second question: What do you think matters more to people around the world? It seems to me like the World Cup is a no brainer for that question, but I'd love to hear some other opinions.

World Cup for both your questions. On #2, there's only about 1 country in the world where the WC isn't the biggest sports event.

I think it is more enjoyable to watch the sports in this order.

World Cup>Winter>Summer

Except Curling, nothing else was on for 3 hours, and I watched a curling match. Needless to say, it was not the most exciting 3 hours I've ever spent.

The World Cup far exceeds both olympics in my opinion. I think soccer really is starting to develop a bit more of a following here in the states. I'm glad to see that espn has taken it upon themselves to show it a lot more european soccer on their networks (either EPL or champions league). I can't really fault people for just seeing mls or other american soccer and drawing the conclusion that soccer sucks. Once people here in the US really get a taste for what top level soccer really is, I think people will continue to be won over and enjoy it more.

Don't forget, the Champions League Final is being shown on Network TV on Fox. A lot of people rag on Fox, but the sports they show are better than ESPN/ABC and CBS.
