We are at 12 players on roster and can add 3 more. But also realize that JOB may save for next year as only 2 graduate. Then she could sign as many as 5.

Because I could not stand to watch Holley's Follies the past 4 years, I know little of the players returning. I refused to watch the games. But now I am excited with coach KJH. I have heard Jordan can start from among the incoming recruits so pencil her in at one of the guard positions. Davis seems to be choice at Forward. That is as far as I can go, but it appears we need a couple of grad transfers who can score some points and help lead this young team. What do you think?

A graduate guard & post.

I would say an experienced point guard that can defend and run the team. Horston is a freshman and Massengill I am not sure is ready to run an offense.

I am actually more curious to see what KJH and staff can do with this group of returning and incoming players. I think it is a great chemistry building move to in effect say, you stuck with the program and we are sticking with you.

Injuries are always the X factor but if the team stays, more or less healthy, the LVs have all their positions covered, albeit young players will need to step up.

These team has just undergone a tidal wave of changes; I think the need now is for stability rather than adding a new wild card of a transfer (or transfers).

Madtownvol, I sense that you are like me: feeling more excited about the next season than you have about any other in a long, loooooong time. This is truly exhilarating!

Barring any catastrophic injuries or anymore painful transfers, next year’s team could very well be another positive “defining moment” in Kellie’s career. I don’t feel like Tennessee has to win a championship for it to rise to that level for Kellie, but I think that because last season was so fraught with inexplicable disappointments that all of the joys ahead for next year will, hopefully, be met with a level of enthusiastic fan support that Lady Vol Basketball hasn’t seen since before its last natty.

I am feeling so much positive energy around the Lady Vols right now!

I get what you’re saying but I don’t think bringing in someone to take pressure off say Horston , Zaay Green, or even the freshman post is saying we don’t trust or don’t appreciate us for sticking with you. I think it would actually enhance who they practice against and can help elevate them quicker by practicing against a more experienced player. It also may let them go out and play more freely to know someone is behind them backing them up or the numbers aren’t low at that position.

If Minyon Moore wants to come over, I wouldn't say no...

It would be one thing if Evina stayed, but the reality is the starting PG, who led the team in scoring and assists, transferred. That leaves Jordan or Jazmine as the two options to replace her. I don't think Jazmine is ready yet, and Jordan is an incoming freshman. It may not hurt to get a grad transfer to bridge the gap and allow those two future PGs to develop their games.

I think they need to show faith in Kasi and the two freshmen posts, barring any injuries. Kasi has the potential to be a very good SEC post player.

This reminds me of a question. Why does the women’s team have 15 roster slots and the men’s team have 12 slots. I have heard that a lot of women’s team never fill the roster slots. I assume it is for title 9 compliance.

Similar to the way I feel. Dominate the creampuffs on the schedule wire to wire. Beat the teams they should beat in the SEC. Be competitive against the top tier teams.

Dominate wire-to-wire and get the bench some reps in the fourth quarter, not playing the starters 35+ minutes in too many games that stayed closer than they should have. That's been one of my biggest disappointments with this team. They don't swarm overmatched teams the way that Baylor, ND or MSST do.

Same here.

. I do see Amb3096's point about the uncertainty around PG. But, the flipside is that there is no substitute for experience. Rather than having Horston and Massengill play behind a transfer, I say let them get their "trials by fire" early in the season. I am betting that KJH can fast track these players more effectively than Holly did with Evina and Hayes in their first seasons. And let's recognize that those two were not that bad as freshman players. Evina was going pretty well, in fact, until she has some kind of chronic knee inflammation, that killed her mobility and Hayes has some great games as well.

Evina and Annie's limits as freshman came down to not being good outside shooters ad making bad decisions under pressure. The prior on Horston is that she can shoot lights out and Massengill will hopefully work on her shot. If KJH can get a better offensive system in place, it also will help young PGs make better decisions. I think Evina got into a bad habit of trying to make a play when nothing was really there (in a stagnant offensive set).

But we will see, there are unknowns with this team- how much of a coaching upgrade will KJH really be; how prepared will a freshman point guard and frosh posts players be and will the Aussie recruit be ready to step into D1 comp?

But at this point, there is no reason NOT to be optimistic.

I believe that the presence of Mercedes and Jaime helped bring Evina/Annie along as freshmen. They weren't perfect, but did provide some degree of stabilization. Because the team only really has 1 proven player (Rennia) coming back, having an inexperienced PG along with an inexperienced SG, PF, and C may be too much. Of course, I say this based on the team's recent history of poor coaching, so having Kellie in place may make this a moot issue. In any event, I'd rather have Tennessee's problem of managing a lot of talented (but inexperienced) players vs. UConn having zero depth and no talented bodies on the bench.

She's on an official visit at Mississippi State this weekend, along with Sidney Cooks from Michigan State.

I heard about Minyon visiting MSST. I don't know if she is even considering Tennessee, but used her as an example of the type of grad transfer worth signing.

If Vic can convince Cooks to sign, MSST will be set for the next three years. Her, Jackson, Promise Taylor and the slew of talented underclassmen he's signed the last two years will keep them at contender status for the SEC championship and final four.

I'd take 3 grad transfers with one year to play, if they exist. 2 shooters that play defense. 1 athletic rebounding machine.

They would not take up a scholarship next year.

Maybe 2 grad transfers... don’t want to stunt the growth of the players that will be left over. One of them could absorb some of Cheridenes time if and the other can fill in for Evina\Meme’s minutes and allow the freshman and returning players to develop.
