Did Peterman break his hand/thumb during the game? Did I completely miss that? Or was it practice?

During the game. Apparently he kept playing and CBJ said they weren't sure when the injury happened during the game.

Think it was the freeze play.

I think that was one of the dumbest plays I've ever seen UT run. Florida read that play from the snap. I thought it was a HB screen and then I realized there was no HB in sight.

It's not a "play". It's a quick snap when the defense jumps off sides. The line not moving is to emphasize the defense jumping and confuse the d-line to allow a chance for a big play on a free play.

No dude that was a designed play to confuse the defense. Now, the WKY game they didn't move because of a flag, but I don't recall a flag on this play against FL.

It was not a designed play, in the sense that they called it from the huddle, but they do practice that play.

If the center notices a player jumping the snap, he can quick snap the ball to draw the flag and the QB throws a fly route to the WR. The line stays in their stance to show that it was a defensive offsides, and it usually slows up the defense anyway bc they think it is a dead ball. It gives you a shot at a quick freebie downfield.

I'm not saying I agree with that approach, but it understand it. And it clearly wasn't a called play from the huddle to try to "confuse" Florida's defense.

Ok guys I understand the concept here, what I'm saying is I honestly didn't think there was a flag on that specific play. I could be totally wrong, and probably am, but what I'm saying is I thought the oline just didn't move thinking something happened and it ended up a bust play. I totally understand the reasoning behind it like the WKY game, but I truly thought there was no penalty on that specific play against FL and they just let our QB get hammered for new reason.

There was a flag for Florida offsides. However Crooms offensive pass interference bailed Gators out and overruled offsides.

Went back and looked.
Broke it on a Florida helmet interception early 2nd quarter.
Passes were fairly close til then.

Appreciate it. I couldn't recall exactly what happened but I thought we didn't gain anything from that play.

It wasn't designed to be a trick. They didn't move because they thought they'd get a flag. The refs didn't care and the result is what it is.

There was a flag on that play but it was for off. pass interference. The def jumped and the center snapped the ball, only problem is the def got back before the snap. It wasn't a trick play.

There is no such thing as an overrule. Two penalties offset each other, no matter which one is worse. The refs blew the call. They didn't trow a flag for Florida being offsides.

Show some respect for the VN QB, after all he was chosen by VN to be the starter and was bitten in the hand by a Gator. Best of luck Nathan and be sure to get a tetanus shot.

If there were two flags on the play, one on the offense and one on the defense, they would offset and the play would have been replayed.
