Which recruit

I'll never forget Meachem ( I loved that CAL gm), but i will agree by saying Vinson is something else. Ive never seen a Tape of a recruit where the players had totally different speeds. If you look you can tell when Vinson is running hard, just wait till you see the defenders losing ground VERY FAST. Vinson will be a star no dought, but i'll tell you another sleeper to watch out for Daryl Vereen. I know some dude said it before, but its true watch the Video of all our recruits on utsports.com. When they get to Vereen his first run looked some much like Coker's Vandy run except up the right sideline. Nevin McKenzie and BJ Coleman are overlooked SUPERSTARS GO VOLS

according to Cutcliffe both O'Neal and Vinson are Fast as in Gault type.
Creer looks like he's already been in the progam 2 years and could be as fast as Coker.
Berry and G. Jones are alot alike

4.06?? I'm not sure I believe that... For all of you people so stuck on the forty time, IT IS WAY OVER-RATED!!!! How many times have you ever seen two kids in a game line up and runa forty in a straight line? Its all about angles and being able to use bursts of speed and then at times maintain your top speed to out run someone...

I agree the 40 time isn't that big of a deal when it comes to being on the field. I would much rather have a guy that is a little bit slower in the 40, but can make people miss. As for Gault's 4.06, that seems a little quick, but it wouldn't surprise me.

I cant wait till see all these kids on the field. Vinson, O'Neal, Jones, and Berry. Talk about speed.

The 40 times that you are refering to are not accurate at all. There was a article (I believe on ESPN.com) awhile back on the 40 time. They took the tape from the 10 fastest 100 meter dashes in history and looked at what their 40 time was. The fastest was around 4.48 I believe. So when you hear of this recruit ran a 4.4 and this one ran a 4.3 know that it is hand timed and also on the recruits start rather than a gun start.

Are you basing this on him being a JUCO guy?

For the most part, yes. It's not that I think O'Neal is more gifted than Jones, because I don't think that. Jones should very well end up an All American at Tennessee. O'Neal, for 2007 only, should be the most prepared, all things considered.

Thats a stereotype, because I have seen high schoolers go in and out perform College guys who have been in the program for 2 or 3 years.. I'm not saying this happens a lot, but it does more than we think... I understand that JUCO is a different level than high school, but some of these JUCO places arent very good and they play against bad competition...

Of course! There is no science to predicting which players will truly excel. A lot of these discussions are made from evidence from 2-3 60 second highlight tapes and gut feeling.

It's highly possible our 3 starting WRs in 2007 are Gerald Jones, Brent Vinson, and Kenny O'Neal. I love some of the returning guys, but we're incredibly deep in talent at WR, but not in experience. It's a blank canvas for the depth chart, so everybody has a chance.

That is not accurate. There have been people electronically timed under 4.4. There is no question about that. Berry's forty time is electronically timed. But, like they were saying earlier forty times are vastly overrated in terms of translating to football success.
