While it's evident that Clausen has stepped the offense up a notch or two and our defense is starting to smoke,it only makes ya wonder if that same team that played LSU will show up Saturday. Will this be one of those games where we think we have it in our back pocket and play sloppy?I hope the emotion from the LSU game follows over to this Saturday and we put up some big numbers,or atleast big enough numbers by halftime so when can get Ainge in there in the second half.

This may sound like a smart ass answer - but it is not meant that way-

The Vols are gonna ashow up on Saturday - while they may be tired from the short week - I think this may be the first time this season that we see the real team- if you get what I am saying. They should that they have the ability on monday night - now that have to show what they are truly capable of - however - I wouldn't expect to see them come out real flashy - gotta remember that UGA is next week and we need to keep some secrets to ourselves!!

Let's hope they don't come in knowing that they have this game in the bag. We seem to have been doing that a lot over the last few years.

Not that I'm worried of a loss, but if we appear sluggish and unenergetic because of the opponent, we may not rise quite as high in the polls as we're hoping.

which team? the defense has been steady if not exceptional in all 3 games.... the offense with Clausen under center has also been steady. Since Clausen is now 'the guy', expect to see the team that played the 2nd half against LSU next week.

I hope you all are right,so many times after a big win it just seems that teams don't think the need to play as hard.

UT's B team could beat Ole Miss by 2 touchdowns. UT is pulling it together now. Take it easy on us next weekend.

I'm not worried about beating Ole Miss,I just want us to be the football team that we are capable of being.

There is no doubt in my mind we are going to see what they started in the 2nd half with Claussen. Vols roll.

The team feeds off this guy. He has the "IT" factor that people look for.

You are well on your way. UT needs to get rid of the off week before the second week of the season. They need to be playing football and trying to gel rather than taking two weeks to prepare for Florida. It showed a lot in the Florida and LSU games that the offense wasn't on the same page.

I didn't see anything out of Rick in the UF game... he had 3-4 chances, and didn't do anything... but now you have to go on the assumption that the O will play like they did in the 2nd half of Monday's game /w Rick from here on out.

I just hope Clausen continues to play well and stays healthy.Lets hope he does not make any bad mistakes for Fulmer to throw Ainge back in.Don't get me wrong,Ainge is a good qb but he has some issues that need to be worked out.

off topic, but I just saw this from espn's Maisel. Praise for anything Orange is rare over there, It's good to see props given...

"I have to admit that I believed Tennessee tailback Gerald Riggs, Jr., was all helmet and no cattle. But after watching Riggs' winning touchdown in overtime against LSU, when he met Tiger linebacker Cameron Vaughn at the 1, stood him up and drove him into the end zone, I get it now. I get it."

Positives: we are playing at home, and though we won, we laid an egg in the first half, so there will be motivation to put a complete game together.

Negatives: 12:30 kickoff. It may be mild, but it will still be hot.

aaa... but Clausen was in the game against Florida only on the first 2 possessions of the game and the final possession of the 1st half (1 minute remaining). Drops by the receivers and poor blocking (sack) killed both drives of the first two drives. And when he left the game the score was still 0-0. The last possession of the half was to really just run out the clock to maintain the 7-7 score. Clausen did not play at all in the 2nd half while the Vols score 0 points and on their way to 17 scoreless possessions. Clausen really did not play enough to judge his performance against Florida. Who knows, had he played some in the 2nd half against Florida, maybe the final result would be different?

I agree %100 dawg. I've always hated taking the second week of the season off. I think it just interrupts the bonding process and tends to make the team seem disjointed. By the way, welcome to the Volnation dawg. You seem to be alright... :eek:k:

Wait a second!!!! Yes I agree that clausen played well against LSU but he is not the great white hope for UT's offensive woes. He did not play that well against UAB and against Florida he did not do much on his first two series or the last series of the 1st half. Clausen will be the starter until he screws something up, which is quite possible.

The bottom line is that receivers, and running backs have been dropping passes left and right. O linemen have been getting whipped. Running backs dropping the ball on the ground, special teams have been horrific.

One half of football does not usually change these glarring short comings. Clausen had a good game against LSU in one half of football. He should start for right now but the Tennessee offense has issues. If nothing else there are some offensive coaching problems. For example, if receivers drop catches in games, they are doing it in practice. The first four of ainge's passes against LSU hit the receivers in the freakin hands but were dropped.

Enough of my rant. Ole Miss is average at best but Tennessee's offense has proven that they cannot just walk on a field and win a game.

Go Vols. play four quarters of offense.
