If you had the choice between getting a high seed in the NIT and winning the NIT or getting a low seed in the NCAA tourney and maybe winning one game, which would you choose?

Thats a tough one, I guess i would choose the NCAA tourney just because u know u had a good enough season to be there

That is true, though you could be a big NCAA snub. The NIT would bring a championship, but the NCAA tourney is more elite.

NCAA by far. I would take just getting there... you don't have a chance if you don't even make it there.

I suppose thats true. South Carolina won the NIT last year but I didn't remember that until they started talking about it on the radio. If they would have made the NCAA tourney though, I would have remembered that.

NCAA!!!!!!!! Money, exposure, experience, and accomplishment of making it. Anybody that said otherwise needs their head examined. I'd rather go out in the first round of NCAA than win the NIT.

yep... forgot to add to my post, who pays attention to the NIT? I'm pretty sure I never have.

JMX, no need to bash dude. You have had your fair share of stupid posts. This is just a simple question: a championship or an appearance? Winning on a lower lever or losing on a bigger level? You may get more exposure by the media by being in the NCAA tourney, you may not. There are less teams in the NIT so there is more spotlight to go around, but like I said the NCAA is on a bigger level.

Well CBC, I have to work for a living so I'd take the KIA. I've never been one for cheap thrills. I guess you could also say: would you take a 12-20 season with wins over 3 top 10 teams or a 25-6 team with no big wins?

I just asked a damn question CBC, that means I wanted an answer. The smartass comments weren't necessary.

I'm not sure the team would be exactly motivated if they end up in NIT. History does have a way of repeating itself.

NCAA hands down, one of your major goals for every year has to be making the NCAA tournament.

By making the big show and if possible make a good run will elevate fan support and recruiting.

The NIT is the the most insane tournament in college sports. What are you playing for? To see who the 65th best team in the country is? LOL
Its a tournaments full of average to bad basketball teams.

I would take the NCAA appearance over a NIT championship and it isin't even close.

NIT does have some perks though...more practice time, more games, and more exposure than you would have sitting at home.

We agree that the NIT has some perks as a consolation and not the prize?

Definitely..I can remember when the NIT was the tourney though...way back in the day! :(

The only perk is the extra practice time. No press...no drama....nobody cares about the NIT.

ESPN covers almost all the games during the middle of the week though.

Espn also says that "Sundays are for Bowling". Putting the NIT on during the week is like putting Figure Skating on during Monday Night Football.
