There's this article that I really only find interesting because there was a moderately heavy backlash against the types of players the last coaching staff appeared to be bringing in. I think UF's recent arrest record brings up all sorts of interesting points of conversation like, double standards (foley, Hamilton), media coverage (winning at football or losing at life), and general perspective (what is more important for a football coach and fans?)

But I post this to see what people would rather have at Tennessee (and no you can't have both).

Meyers record with arrests and all

or perennial 2nd place with no arrests.

Gimme the wins and trophies.

20 years from now, no one will remember Chris Rainey...but they'll damn sure remember Tebow, Harvin, and those championships.

what's your evidence the new coaching staff is bringing in higher quality guys? certainly not your arrest record. is there a coach in america who says they are bringing in dbags?

It's not a question of the current state of affairs, it's a question of preference. What would your preference be? Not making a statement, asking a question.

i think it's absurd to argue that you can't win and not run a prison. every program has a certain percentage of arrests, but just because a kid is highly rated that doesn't make him any more likely to jack someone up.

Who's arguing? It's a hypothetical, an instance of completely made up possible circumstances totally seperate from realistic or normal convention. There is no statement of fact, there is no stated belief, no hypothesis, no diagnosis, just two distinct scenarios and a question of your preference. In this hypothetical question I ask...

If your only options are what has happened in the last 5 years at UF (as an example). And coming in 2nd to UF every year but with no off the field issues (as an antithetical example to the first). Which would you prefer for UT? Thats it.

As we've seen, most college programs go through troubles.

Give me the wins, do your best to deal with trouble makers.

Give me Saban's win. If you can have the wins with discipline as Saban does (IMO), I would be fine with taking the risky character recruits. It would give high risk kids a chance.

If the preferences of the fans that post to this forum are pointless...then yes, I suppose so.

it's pointless because you can't seriously think there is a single fan here that wouldnt' trade their teams success and off the field issues the past 5 years with florida's. not unless you want to start voiding your NC under fulmer.

No I can't seriously think that, because I don't know, that's precisely why I asked. You can ASSume all you like, but you don't really know what people are thinking until you ask.
