Census Bureau figures released Wednesday update last year's prediction that white children would become a minority in 2023 and the overall white population would follow in 2042. The earlier estimate did not take into account a drop in the number of people moving into the U.S. because of the economic crisis and the immigration policies imposed after the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks.

So, the actual year is 2050, then, and not 2042? I was kind of hoping I would be a minority before my 70s...oh well.

we better start makin some babies, If layla wants to volunteer to do her part in these efforts and Lane is too busy, I will step up to the plate and donate my thrust and seed for the greater good:)

I think the moral makeup of Americans will have a greater impact than the racial makeup of the population. Odds are pretty good that I will have crossed the river Jordan by then, anyway.

Could be.

Do more Americans value their liberty and prefer to work hard and do for themselves, or do they prefer to indulge themselves regardless of the source? Do more Americans value the enforcement of laws that protect the family and local society or do they prefer to tear down the laws out of a pursuit for pleasure?

These and many similar questions will have a greater impact on the direction of our country than the racial makeup will, I think.

Well seeing how a little boy got kicked out of school and was sent to get a mental evaluation for drawing a picture of Jesus on the cross when asked to draw a picture about Christmas and when a little girl is told to read a book during quiet time in school and she pulls out her bible and is told you can't read that book. I say we are in trouble.

Will financial aid for college change? Will Caucasians be given the minority scholarship? I kinda doubt it for some reason

This is when you will need that generation most, they will be making the decisions that shape and advance this country. They will be supporting you, unless of course you invest wisely and keep a good retirement account.

Its a non issue. We're all in this together and the sooner we stop looking at the color of a neighbor, and act like a neighbor, the better off we'll be. Im not spouting off this "holier than thou, I have a black friend, bla bla bla."

Im just calling it like I see it. In Texas, we will face this far sooner than the rest of the US. The Mexican population has grown a ton, and Im not gonna google the stats, but it wouldnt suprise me one bit if the Mexican population out numbers "white, or anglo" population in the next 10-20 years. Hell, maybe sooner.

I agree, it matter little what the color of the population is, much more important is that generations attitudes toward government and the policies that shape it.

I grew up speaking, reading and writing in Spanish (and English), and that ability sure does come in handy more and more. :good!:

Spanish was my minor in college. I starting formal study in 7th grade, but the guys that worked for our ranch at the time had already taught most of what I needed to know. I use it everyday.

I began formal studies when at the age of five I found myself on a sugar cane farm in Puerto Rico, getting my butt whipped by my stepfather for repeating a word that the sugar cane cutters had taught me. :bottom:
